Can't believe Via Chicago hasn't been mentioned.  This song is everything that is great about Wilco. Poppy, melodic, psychedelic freak out all wrapped up in one.

Right now I can not get over how great At Least That Is What You Said and Hell Is Chrome.

The lyrics of Hell Is Chrome are wonderful.  Actually, a lot of Wilco's lyrics are amazing.  The whole idea behind Impossible Germany is extremely intelligent.  I'm quickly finding out that Jeff Tweedy really knows his stuff.  I now just have to get my hands on Summer Teeth and The Whole Love or even the self title.

Via Chicago is great too!

Via chicago is defintely one of my favorite, but it may be a hard pill to swallow live if you arent used to the album version. The first time my girlfriend saw Wilco with me she said "I thought they just fucked up..." after the first noisy part.

Its a brilliant but tough lyric to swallow, too.  "I dreamed about killing you again last night and it felt alright to me" Especially if you consider it an autobiographical song directed toward his wife.  Tweedy is nothing if not bravely honest in his songwriting.  I love how Jeff  and John can stay right on the beat while the rest of the band goes into sonic freakout mode!

Same goes for At Least That's What You Said:  "I thought it was cute for you to kiss my purple black eye / even though I caught it from you / I still think we're serious"
"Some like their water shallow, I like mine deep"

MrWhippy

Another thing I respect so much about Wilco is that before they do a show, the review previous setlists of shows they have played in that town and make sure to include songs they have not played in that town before, or at least not played in a while there.

It's pretty cool to put that level of care and detail into your setlists.
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

I've always wondered if MMJ did this or not.  I feel like if I was in a band with such a great catalogue of songs that I would always pour a lot of detail in sets and I would make sure to add variety and change often.

Regarding ^ this fest ^ , I'm wondering if a certain musician from Louisville might stop by to be part of it, as Wilco did Forecastle...

That early bird—oops, early WORM—is a hell of a deal, and I'm thinking I might finally go next year.

As for guest appearances by anybody from Louisville, I think the visit by Wilco at Forecastle wasn't exactly driven by friendship, considering Tweedy's purported opinion of MMJ. But if that happens, all the better!
"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

johnnYYac

I wasn't aware of Tweedy's opinion of MMJ, but while I dig Tweedy's work (solo, Wilco, Uncle Tupelo), he does sometimes appear to be a bit of an ass. Do tell...

I mentioned this (scroll down) once a while back, kind of. A big Wilco fan told me that Tweedy had referred to MMJ as "My Boring Racket," though I have never learned if that was true or not.

I plan on doing this in 2013, but it may be too early to commit now.

Right now, I'm planning on trying for one of the early worm passes, at only $99.  I might try to grab a second one, so I'll let folks know if I have an extra.

I don't know that I believe that my morning racket Mumbo Jumbo. Didn't wilco invite MMJ on stage once and say "this is gonna rock" and cover don't fear the reaper?

I'll be there for sure, me and the Mrs. went in 2011. Hopefully they debut a few new tracks like they did last year. I'm anxious to see the full lineup. I'd be pleasantly shocked if JJ made an appearance.

Have any of you folks been to either of the previous 2 Solid Sounds? Just curious what your opinions of it were.

I want to go to one of these... wilco don't really care for the Philly area.

johnnYYac

I almost forgot, but an hour after these went on sale, there are still 3-day early worm passes for $99 available.
