I'll be one of the people that is buying general public tickets today and was wondering if anyone has any advice to get the best oppurtunity to be one of the first of the general public? Should I go and buy them at the palace or should I get them on the phone at ticketmaster? Does the palace have the huge ghost mysterious charge that ticketmaster has? thanks

Going to the venue is a total crapshoot for the onsale.

Some venues do first come first serve, others do "random" lottery placement.  However, the scalpers for whatever reason, usually win the lottery.

I usually go with just buying the stuff online.

You should note that more often than not, better seats come up after your first or second search.  For whatever reason, people decline the tickets, order times out, ticketmaster released more seats, ect...

Good luck.

I have the best luck when I go to a ticketmaster outlet.  We have them in our Kroger grocery stores in Lexington and frankfort.  There is never a line and you get better seats then online in my opinion.  Just don't go to a popular location.

Well I just got totally shafted. I was ALL set ready to go online, I even had a lower level orchestra seat(s), I filled out my info..all set.. Then it had Citi visa etc for credit card info, and I don't have a citi visa.. so i filled it out.. And it wouldn't work. I tried all variations and it would not work. I have NEVER had this problem, EVER (over 25+ yrs buying tickets).

So now all that is left is balcony nose bleeds.. Not happy.

Have fun everyone.

Hypno, are you certain it was not a Citibank presale?  In that case you would only be able to pay with a "citi" card, much like an American Express presale.  There may be a later public on sale... Hope it works out.
