They just broke up this year actaully. Its the singer from Falling Forward. I never liked Elliot as much as Falling Froward but they do some good stuff

I don't think anyone has mentioned Speed To Roam. Although they're not together all the time, they did just come out with a new disc. Don't know where to get it though. Paul Oldham and Peter Townsend are members.

Remember in the late 80s, we had 3 of them:

Hula Hoop (which I dug (not just because of their rickenbacker-playing bass player:), their demo casstte was killer!

Big Wheel - Perter Searcey (sp?) yeah formerly of SquirrelB, also just released a few albums on some big labels the past few years. I heard his first, is was good.

Shit I can't remember the 3rd, I do know they are now called Slackshop???? Anyone???

BTW did anyone see the story on VHS or Beta in this week's velocity? Check it out http://www.velocityweekly.com/cover/index.html

Coming from the East and South Ends ca. 1992-1994, and centered around the Machine, were a number of so-called "joke bands" who usually had rather hilarious and over-the-top stage shows that were often attended only by those in on the joke.  Nonetheless, usually enough people people not in on the joke were there to be sufficiently entertained, enlightened, or amused.  So after this lengthy preface let's raise a bottle of Falls City to the following:

Clinton Youth
Bloodfart
Michoacon and the Acapulco Golds

and to a lesser extent,

Kvelch
Anal Pungency

The first three played music of a slighly higher "technical" caliber than the latter.

Criminally missing in this discussion of mersh lame-os like Days of the Nude et cet. is any band that J.D. "Jack" Daniels had any role in, including but not limited to the following:

Calf Fiends
das Kapitan
The Quiz?
The Web
Snakeater

Death to false metal.

The tour started Saturday, in case anyone is lucky enough to catch them.  Former Louisvillian Syd Griffin saddles up again with the reunited Long Ryders.  Looks like they might be playing some of the same UK festivals as MMJ.  If only I could make some of these shows:

The Long Ryders tour of Europe - THE STATE OF THE REUNION - their first gigs in seventeen years, is kicking off this Saturday 26th June!!! This is with the exact 1984-1987 lineup of the band: Stephen McCarthy, Greg Sowders, Tom Stevens and Sid Griffin, in support of the release of The Best Of The Long Ryders, a single CD hits package on Prima Records Ltd. See below for track listing and further info.

The tour dates follow. Please, the Long Ryders may never tour again so if you haven't seen them or you want to re-live your wayward youth or you simply want to see what all the fuss was about GET YOUR TICKETS SOON!
