T5 is one of the better indoor venues to catch MMJ

you sir are crazypants !!! but each to their own naturally :) the only way i survived T5 was being on the rail up front each night which was just luck.

if it was fall and had to be an indoor show .. RCMH would be my obvious #1. roseland isn't bad .. i always go for upstairs and get a spot on the center railing and the bar just a few feet behind me. first spot i ever saw MMJ  the beacon is a great old venue but it's become a no fun factory .. security is very stern and last time i was there i kept being told to sit down. i had front row tix and told everyone that they needed to learn how to act at a rock show  ;D

i say a big no no to MSG. seeing them there felt a little .. i dunno, empty. it's just too big a venue for which i won't complain. i'm definitely cherishing MMJ not quite being big as say .. phish.

I don't see them playing T5 again. Especially if it is just 1 show. It isn't big enough for this tour. I also don't think Roseland and Beacon are an option for the same reason. This tour they are playing larger venues and I think it would have to be Radio City or MSG. But even Radio City seems a little too small. The last time they played their the show was an instant sell out. With that in mind I really think it will be MSG since Bowery Presents has been booking a lot of bands of a similar size there ie the Strokes and Phoenix.

First off, kind of surprised they are waiting until the Fall to play NYC because that pretty much means they would have to play MSG. They sold out Radio City in a matter of minutes back in 2008 and i bet they would do it again. Maybe they would do multiple nights in at Radio City.

It would have made more sense to come back in August and play an outdoor venue like Keyspan Park in Coney Island or out at Gov Island. Those are both in between the sizes of radio city (5500 capacity) and MSG (19000 or so capacity). Wilco and Daft Punk played at Keyspan the past few years and they did well. Maybe they will have an early fall show there.

Do you think they are waiting to announce this show until after Mountain Jam on June 5th? That festival is only about 2 hours outside of the city and maybe they contractually can't announce it until it has either sold out or the festival has passed.

What about an early September Prospect Park show?

That would be cool.  Just not when I will be away for Pearl Jam's festival  ;).

I'm not familiar with most of the NYC venues... I saw TTF at T5 last year that's it. But with regards to some ideas floating around... Most of the shows they first posted for this tour (ex. Toronto) are in small intimate venues.. Making, from my perspective, NYC a major possibility at some point... Although they are focused mainly on the East coast so far and not one posted yet... I just can't wait for Toronto 7/11
and if all else fails, i'll come running back, wonderin where you went
with my heart.

I think another cool venue for them to play would be Floyd Bennett Field. Supposedly they are going to start having concerts there. here is some info on it:
