Indifference Maker

I may be crazy and just dreaming due to loving these 2 bands so much and having seen them so many times live but I could swear that during the Cincy show a few days ago, that the intro into Slow Slow Tune was a Pearl Jam riff.  Not for sure what song but I think it was (Present Tense).
Did anyone else pick up on this?

Now that you say it... it does really remind me of a PJ tune. I'll have to go back and listen to the Merriweather show to put my finger on it.
The wind blew me back, via Chicago, in the middle of the night.

the song is crown of thorns by mother love bone. more known for pj peforming it though. i hear it as well. by the way giventofly....nice move in the pit last night. classic!

Indifference Maker

its definately not Crown of Thorns.

and even though i appreciate the input, it is funny that you thought you had to explain to me what Crown of Thorns was.  Even though I mentioned (Present Tense) and I go by "Indifference Maker".

thanks but it is not Crown of Thorns

Lots of pearl jam handles in here.... Pearl jam is my second favorite band of all time other than MMJ, so I mean this with no disrespect but I cant see them covering PJ. doesn't seem like Jims thing.

On a separate note, one if my favorite YouTube videos is when MMJ is opening for PJ and Jim says "in this cruel dark world, at least we have pearl jam". Or something along those lines.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

i definitely picked up on some PJ riffage in the intro to Slow at MPP.  I think its most similar to the start of "Black".
Don't you ever turn it off

talking about this in the car on the way back from philly last night. my buddy suggested "black". to me personally it reminded me of "yellow ledbetter". i'm not the biggest PJ fan though.

YouAre_GivenToFly

Ahhh yes... reminds me of a bit of a jam they do at the end of Ledbetter. A little of Black, too. Makes sense, both are in the key of E.

Weird.  It sounded like the opening riff to "I Got ID" to me.  I get the "Black" reference as well.

Pearl Jam - I Got ID (aka Shit) - with lyrics
You need it.  That's for sure.

yeah, I was thinking it sounds a bit like the the intro to black's chord progresion as well.
There's Still Time.........

YouAre_GivenToFly

Its got a bit of that too... key of E again. Maybe its MMJ's little tip-of-the-hat to PJ.

when i first heard slow tune, i immediately thought "come back."

A little Black, a little Nothing Man, a little Ledbetter.

after going back to listen to crown of thorns, i stand corrected. just the first thing that came to mind when i heard the intro riff. no need to take offense about my reply. just simply stating for the general discussion that crown of thorns was originally a mother love bone song. while you may know that tid bit, i'm sure some here may not.

furthermore, as someone else stated, it's not even pearl jam that they are playing, so anyone who takes a stab is wrong. the riff sounds very pj, but i'm sure it's just coincidence.

there is an MMJ song that has a riff at the end that sounds like Betterman.  I can't seem to find it right now.
