Glenn Beck has more sense then you might give him credit for.
he certainly knows how to play to his audience.

i mean, it is an act, isn't it?

Seriously, he might be one of the most irresponsible people in the country for striking that kind of fear into people. I guess they fall for it though...

I don't like him personally but he doesn't put any more fear than any other mainstream media outlet or the federal goverment.  With that being said I will be voting for Ron Paul for sure.

You do understand that Fox News is the mainstream media, right? Even though they have brilliantly crafted themselves as some minority (all the while touting how popular they are) and it's us vs. them, they have as many followers and corporate sponsorships as any media outlet, thus, they are mainstream media. Sarah Palin is lying to you and herself when she spins out the juvenile phrase "lame stream media". It's an excellent ploy, though, and when I can stomach their right wing doctrine, you can actually hear them talk about "the media" as if they are a seperate entity. And many Republicans and Tea Partiers buy in to this nonsense. It's using a political platform to "think" rather than thinking about a political platform. Excellent marketing on Fox's part and they have become a quasi religion in some aspects.

I don't support fox news or any of the corporate run media.  I should've known better than to post on a political thread.  Do y'all want to talk about religion next.

Unfortunantely, the far left can be as evil and some of the most closed minded, hateful people I have ever met were far left liberals.

Nothing in my opinion.  It's hard on a forum.  I would rather do it face to face and even then people are so passionate about it that someone usually gets mad.  Just like religion.

I myself love discussing politics.  Maybe we can do it over a drink before a show.

I really think that you're on to something here.  Before Glen Beck became GLEN BECK, he was just a local dude down here in Tampa doing the typical quasi-conservative talk-show fear thing.  He obviously must of heard Phil Hendry (the biggest radio genius in the history of radio) and started some really weak Hendry rip-off called the schlub club.  He would tell his audience early in the show the trick he was about to pull and then would advocate some really offensive position so that people who came in during the middle of the show would be offended and call out of their minds.

He liked this alot.  I think he's taken America on a 15 year schlub club.  Or at least I hope so.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

I heard him do this when his show went national. It was the year anniversary of John Kennedy's plane crash and he took a stance that the whole thing was made up and it never happened. Irate callers blasted him and he told them that they had all been duped.
He got a lot of angry callers and he played it "dumb" the whole way.

It made for interesting radio and proved a point or two about how naive people are and the power of the media, but to be taking your political and religious cues from Glenn Beck is scary.

Side bar > both Beck and Limbaugh have struggled with addiction (Beck's is well noted; Limbaugh's is shamefully noted) and it seems to me they have both simply switched their addictions to these megalomaniacs who will go to any lenghths to fill that void which is familair to any of us who have done any work regarding our own addiction.

doesn't mmj have to approve something like that?  I'd sue if I were them.

I think there's a statutory/automatic license for airplay like that.

Let's not forget the time that Beck would slander politicians by asking questions in the negative (e.g. "did Obama go to a Taliban training camp" instead of "Obama went to a Taliban training camp"), so when someone made a website that asked if "Glenn Beck raped and murdered a girl in 1990" he went all suey and suddenly the First Amendment wasn't so great.

Political affiliation aside, the minute you try and piss on the First I automatically will assume you're not worth the air you're spewing into the microphone.

this is a big "WHO FUCKING CARES" in my book.  Nothing anyone will remember when lookin back on MMJ's legacy.
God damn those shaky knees.

No shit no ones going to remember it, that doesn't mean we should he afraid of discussing something we don't agree on
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

this thread is exactly the response the promo was meant to invoke.  to get glenn's name into the youth pool.  if you google my morning jacket glenn beck this is the first thread you see.  and that is exactly the purpose.  in show biz any publicity is good publicity.  fuck this schmuck.  he's caused so many people unnecessary frustration, he needs to be put down like the rabid feral dog he is.

Glenn Beck is a toad who knows that he cannot penetrate the collective enlightened consciousness of MMJ fans, so he resorts to this "na naa na naaa naaa" crap to get under our skin.
