To stream youtube on my blu ray player I have to input a search for a specific video. Is there a way to stream the live Unstaged show through a blu ray player? Anyone know?

mgriff73

I would think so since it's a youtube/vevo production.  I guess you could stream through a playstation 3 also.

Thanks for the responses, but I am still not sure how to receive the live stream. If I entered "my morning jacket unstaged" on my youtube search screen on my TV do you think I would receive it? I tried messing around with this the other day and couldn't get any youtube live streams.

Thanks

I don't think it's possible, but I'd love to be proved wrong.   I've been messing around with my TV and my roku, both of which stream and can show youtube.   But I haven't figured out a way to get to that page/channel.

My current plan is to connect the laptop to TV and run it as a monitor, but it'd be great to not need that.

I don't think it is possible to do that through a blu ray player.

Luckily I have an HTPC connected to my HDTV... I'll be watching in style  8)

agreed.  I have roku and my friend has apple tv, and we figured between one of us we'd get this to work, but no.

although he also has an ipad, and someone said to get the Vevo app on that and see if you can airplay (? is that what's it's called) from the ipad to tv.   we will explore that this weekend, but we have the cable as backup.

Oh man, are you guys serious?  I rarely use our BluRay player (it came free with our tv), but thought that we finally were going to get something out of it.  I was stoked to watch it on our HDTV and through our stereo....

I do have an Ipad and a Macbook, however.  Any live events happening on Youtube this weekend that I can test out the Ipad app on?  And do we need to buy a special apple cable to use our tv as a monitor for our macbook?  I know the hubs has a monitor in our office that he uses from time to time with his macbook, so I guess we probably have the set up already.

i bought the mini dv to hdmi cable that connects to my macbook. i got it for like 7 dollars on monoprice.com. but yeah if your husband already uses a tv as a monitor, you're good to go!

We have never used the TV as a monitor, just an actual computer monitor.  I imagine the cable is one in the same...

This should be easy to do right, just connect? Got my HDTV like 6 months ago, got an HDMI to use for instant stream netflix (I dont currently have HD channels thru cable), but have yet to use it (Bought it on a whim for $30 at best buy, havent opened it since you can get em online for under $10 with shipping..I might have waited too long to get order 1 online though  >:()

Forgive the multiple posts.  This picture, found on The Steam Engine, of promo posters for Ciruital Unstaged says Tuesday's show will also be available ON DEMAND.  Don't know if that's live as well as archived, but let's look into it.

CC, any insight?

I've been curious about this as well. I was hoping to use my apple tv. earlier this week I purchased the HDMI adapter for the iPad and 10ft HDMI cable (monoprice.com = awesome). I didn't consider using the PS3....that's an idea.

So you guys think PS3 or Apple TV won't stream live stuff?

You know, this is probably an easy question for the powers that be at Youtube, but for the life of me, I haven't been able to find a way to communicate it to them. Here is a link to their official blog. It's searchable, but I couldn't find an answer, nor a way to post a question. Sorry.

Seems the band could ask their Youtube reps on this too.

Any updates on how to best stream this through a PS3?  Most of the you tube stuff looks crappy through the PS3 when I make it full size.  I was hoping to watch this at optimal Def.

i'm not taking any chances.

stream through youtube on laptop and hook up to HDTV with an S-video cable from radioshack.  run audio out from laptop into stereo using an ipod cable.

We did a dry run last night (connected our MacBook to our TV with a s-cable). We were able to access the MMJ unstaged page with no problem. We watched the video of Circuital from the VH1 taping. Sound was a little quiet, but ran through our stereo fine otherwise. This is the weird part, the screen would go blue, at first just a flash but then it got progressively worse. The sound played with no interruption. But the screen was this pale blue. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Here's the latest info on the webcast.  I doubt you'll be able to get the stream to work on any TV or BluRay device, except if running a direct feed from a laptop to TV monitor.

HOW TO VIEW MY MORNING JACKET'S "UNSTAGED" EVENT

For the first time in American Express "Unstaged" history, you will be able to live-stream the My Morning Jacket event through your mobile device. Using the VEVO or YouTube apps for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and Android you can stream through the mobile device of your choice.

Here are some end user guidelines to follow for viewing on your home computer:

What are the system requirements to view the live stream?

PC Requirements:
• Intel® Pentium® 4 2.4GHz or Intel Core 1.6GHz (SSE2-enabled processor required for AMD systems) or higher
• Microsoft Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 or newer
• 512MB of RAM
• Graphics card with 28MB of RAM.
• 50MB of available hard-disk space for installation
• Microsoft DirectX-compatible sound card and display adapter
• Adobe Flash Player 10.1 or newer

Mac Requirements:
• Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or higher
• Safari 4 or Firefox 3 browser or higher
• Any Mac with Intel CPU
• 512MB of RAM (recommended but not required)
• Flash Player 10.1 or higher

What are the minimum bandwidth requirements for the viewer?
You will need a broadband connection such as DSL or cable with at least 500Kbps download bandwidth.

What software do I need to view a live stream?
You only need an Adobe Flash video player available at www.adobe.com. If you have Flash 10.1 installed but are unable to see a stream, try turning off video hardware acceleration: right-click on the video window and select "settings," then un-check "enable hardware acceleration" in the Settings tab. Close the settings window and re-load the web page.

How do I get the live stream and video to play?
The live stream will load automatically and deliver the video to you much like watching television.

How do I know which stream option to select?
The live stream is "encoded" in different sizes to accommodate all users and remove any guesswork on your end. The AEG Digital Media video player will automatically detect your connection speed and deliver to your PC or Mac the most appropriate stream to optimize your viewing experience.

Can I stream at full screen?
Yes simply click the TV icon to render a full screen stream and click the Esc key to return to standard viewing.

Is the live stream in HD?
Yes if you have an adequate internet connection you will automatically be streaming in HD. Sit back and enjoy.

Nothing happens when I click on an event.
Your browser may be blocking pop-ups. Be sure you allow pop-up windows to be opened from your domain.

I can't watch any live video. What should I do?
Ensure that you have a broadband Internet connection (cable modem or DSL). You will not be able to watch the video without a broadband connection. If you have Flash 10.1 installed but you only see black where the video should be, try turning off video hardware acceleration: right-click on the video window and select "settings," then un-check "enable hardware acceleration" in the Settings tab. Close the settings window and re-load the web page.

What if my stream disconnects?
Try closing your browser and reloading the stream. For best experience limit any additional web traffic while watching live events – downloading a large file can cause problems with the live video feed.

Why hasn't the event started yet?
Double check the start time and ensure you are adjusting for different time-zones correctly. If an event starts at 9pm in New York (ET) it will be online at 6pm Local Time in California (PT)
