cool bits from vancouver show:

--they didn't hang the circuital-lamp-eye banner at this show.  don't know if it was a creative or logistical decision.  instead, m.j. lighted the back of the stage, illuminating the recessed areas with soft light.  in trying to describe this i am out of my technical depth, so let's just say: GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS.  :o

--during Gideon jim wasn't playing a guitar.  don't know what went on here.  there was one song that patrick playing the opening beat for a long time before the band kicked in. clearly something was being sorted out on stage.  may have been this song... it was funny to see tom & carl looking off stage right watching.
so, the delay may have been a diff song, but at the top of Gideon i didn't hear jim's guitar part but thought it might have been a sound issue.  then i noticed jim was walking the stage, singing with mic in hand.

cool to see those moments of adapting on stage.  (at the seattle show [i think...] jim's mic fell out of the mic stand during one song. he walked across the stage, still singing, and continued singing into carl's mic.  carl was playing the pedal steel.)

--obh:  this is one of the most fun versions of this i've seen.  meaning the band was having a great time!  carl, tom & jim all caught air.  so many jumps!  bo was conducting at one point: playing with his left hand, moving his right in the air and singing.  (was this the song in which jim did a 2nd knee slide and ended up on his back?  can't remember.  couldn't see him, but could see the rest of the band watching him.  hilarious  ;D )

ok.  few more nerdy bits:

bh, wordless -> day is coming was beautiful!  uplifting 1-2!
--there was no "good intentions" scream at the end of tmpt2

the vancouver show was the first i'd seen by myself in awhile.  the only bummer about that is turning to the dude next to you and saying, "wow! they haven't played this in awhile!" and getting a patient, but stoned stare.  ;D  also didn't get much response when dondante was taking an unusual shape.  i looked up at him and asked, "WHAT?!"  nice guys, but other than offering me a hit of a joint, not social.  ;)

after the show scanned the crowd for la barba dc and got the confirmation of the epic radness i was looking for.

restless:  fab pix!

about that dondante:  profound chills.  sweet jesus.

post-game with La Barba included bonus Fantasy Island content. (no tater tots to be found, tho.)

Thanks darkglow! You commented earlier on the page too. I guess you weren't there, I just saw you're from Florida, so you can ignore my response. It was really too easy to write though, the show pretty much wrote itself. It amazes me how many times they can re-establish themselves as the giants on stage that they are.

Glad everyone likes the pics......and great reviews by you guys, I feel like I relive the show each time I read them.

Just got back to Sacramento.  All I can say right now is that that was the most amazing Dondante I have ever heard.  And I met Jim James.  And I am in heaven.
