** honorable mention ** MSG .. i still think that venue is too big for them, which to me (selfishly speaking) is a good thing. bring on the radio city, the beacon and united palace even (gorgeous place though a bit out of the way). i don't like looking around to see a ton of empty seats. i think MMJ is in an awkward phase as far as how big they are .. they are close to getting really freaking huge but not quite there so some venue's seem too small, some seem too big. the allman bros. are freaking huge but you don't see them playing MSG .. it's always the beacon. to me there is just something lost .. energy lost .. when you play a room with alot of (empty) space. let's have the frenetic energy with a full(er) house.

maybe it was because it was a hometown show... but they blew the roof off the YUM center. I've only been going to see the Jacket for about 16 months, but of my 13 or so shows, YUM is my 4th favorite and there are only 5 that I remember as shinning a little brighter than the other shows Ive been to. again, it might be because the Yum is here at home, and it had been just over 2 years since the last hometown show.

also .. MSG's concert capacity is 2,500 more than YUM's concert capacity

this is true, but 22,000 minus however many seats were behind the stage is still possibly the biggest Jacket show to date excluding festivals. it's definitely between MSG and Yum

I've got great seats for the Philly show so I won't be devastated if they don't come to NYC in August... that said, my fingers are still crossed.

crickets in here lately, can we get another announcement

I check the shows list every day, several times a day.  :-\

I was thinking this morning on the train that the City Center would be a cool venue to see them play at (I saw Tool there a few years back), but then I checked the site and saw that it is under renovation through September...

johnnYYac

I'll likely come back to NYC for a show.  New Years would work.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

brn2plybal

I'm now unsure about them playing this venue.

They would have announced a mid August show by now.

The only way they would hold off is if the show is on a Fri/Sat and they think it will sell out in a matter of days.

Who knows.

With each passing day, I believe NYC will get either NYE or Halloween shows.

wamsankas

Im still thinking NYE, they would have for sure announced a show for an outdoor venue by now. the waterfront made their "summer show" schedule announcement a while back with posters and everything which included september dates... COME ON NYE

Theatre at MSG is a medium capacity NYC venue that doesn't seem to get much attention

forgot about this place. not sure if the construction/remodeling going in the big arena affect the theater. i saw radiohead there a few years ago. decent venue from what i can remember.

I  agree with you Brooke. I'm thinking the long wait to get a NYC announcement might mean we're in for something special again this year. Maybe a T5 type run somewhere, Halloween, or NYE.

I'l take any of those or all!  ;D Hey, a guy's gotta dream too. ;)

I hope NYC gets something cool too (NEW YEARS). If its a multi-night run, I hope its a long enough run that makes it work going up to NYC. Also, t5 was right in the middle of Midterms week which fucked me out of that, so please later in the year!
