I'm still speechless.  Music is my whole life, and my two favorite artists are My Morning Jacket and the late soul singer Gil Scott-Heron.  When I met Jim James last year, I was so excited and nervous and told him about how he and Gil have changed my life.  I later regretted it, kicking myself for not just solely focusing on the Jacket when talking to him.

Well, last night at MSG, MMJ covered Gil Scott Heron's "The Bottle" during the encore.  There are no words to describe how overjoyed and amazed I felt.  It was one of those rare life moments where you feel as if the universe is speaking to you and telling you that everything's going to be alright.  Thank you My Morning Jacket, for allowing me and so many of your fans to feel at peace when watching you perform.  The best band in the world.  I just can't believe it.  What a night.

That's really cool to hear.  Admittedly, I didn't recognize the song but it was the highlight of the otherwise middling encore.  Typically I am not a fan of "Jacket does soul/r&b" but the flute was bangin' and I remember thinking how much Tommy was killing the bass line.

I thought that this song was one of the true highlights of the night.  Incredible cover done so well. Special indeed.
was some shakin' and some record playin'

Yeah, The Bottle was really special. I always love it when this band does covers, but sometimes they are a little hit and miss. This one was definitely spot on.

That was a definite highlight.  Reminded me of hearing them do "Move On Up" for the first time.
