jim closes his eyes so much during the shows it almost freaks me out to see him look at the crowd while he sings
I wonder if he truly "sees" or if its like sleeping with your eyes open.  Or when a shark rolls its eyes into its head just before it tears you to shreds!

they finally took one big holiday somewhere new sorta.
Jim broke his bottom string, so the outro to OBH was all done on the top strings, low freq.  Fucking out of my mind at that point.  The best energy MMJ show ever!  The setlist had nothing for me, but they were so tight and loose simultaneously.

I said it on Twitter from the mud, I think MMJ woke a lot of people up!

Great show!  Surprised no one remarked how Jim broke his high E string about 1/3 of the way into OBH. I could see it flapping in the lights and knew it would be an issue since the entire intro riff (replayed through the middle and especially ending of the song and solo relies heavily on that string.) It took Carl a second to realize this but he took over Jim's part and Jim played a different solo piece.

I guess no one noticed, and the mostly pulled off the dramatic ending as the song winds down.  Good job handling a curve-ball during the denouement (literally)!
Oh, we noticed.  They found a way around it that was awesome.

I noticed- actually twittered "bad time to break a string".... I said to the group I was watching "that's going to be trouble come the end of the song".    Carl didn't quite pick it up at first and then got the gist.

It was "fun" to watch just to see some real professionals handle it so well (for a song they've played a thousand times) but it was a bummer because I thinking the ending suffered for it.

I kinda disagree, having seen OBH at every show, the string break and subsequent recovery was quite cool to me.  Something about a broken string suggests hard playin', and there was that.  Really a moment in johnnYYac MMJ history last night.

That's mighty kind, MrB.  I actually just checked the driving time, but I'm with my wife and three girls visiting the in-laws through Tuesday.  I don't think they'd appreciate it.  They don't get how I can go see the same band more than once in such a short span of time (5 times this summer after Boston next week).  So taking one of their cars to Indy ain't happening.  Again, REALLY appreciate the offer and would take you up on it under other circumstances.

I didn't notice the string being broken, but I did see him chuck the guitar across the stage when it was over which made me cringe due to the fragile nature of the ES-335 and Gibsons in general.  I've never known MMJ to be a bust their gear up kind of band, at least not lately.  I wonder now if he got frustrated with it.  Great show and improvisation either way.

I didn't really watch the band for the last song as much as I did with the crowd. Looked great from the stream.

I hope there is a full video rip somewhere soon for this Lollapolloza show. If they did a streaming concert once a month from now on out I would even pay a flat fee to watch.

by the way- props to youtube for this.   the stream had 1 or 2 minor hiccups over two hours.   Well done!

I remembered, during the intro to Circuital, I looked at the camera on the boom, took off my sunglasses, and waved to you forumites watching at home.  Check it out around 6:40.  I guess I was farther back than I realized, though it was fine.

The file from the above referenced torrent link got converted with DVD Flick and made a great DVD on the big screen and 7.1.  Nearly flawless, especially for a webcast stream, and a great souvenir of a stellar show.

Just finished reliving it up to an epic Dondante.  Need to rest for Boston...
