HORN..might be the best thing I've ever heard.  It does the same thing Explosions In The Sky does for me but with one acoustic guitar
There's Still Time.........

via Wikipedia:

Pink Moon is the third and final album by English musician Nick Drake. It was recorded at midnight in two separate two-hour sessions, over two days in October 1971, featuring only Nick Drake's vocals and guitar, as well as some piano later overdubbed by Drake on the title track.

Note to kids everywhere, sometimes all you need is six strings and some emotion.

Shit this October marks its 40th anniversary!
Oh, I will dine on honey dew And drink the Milk of Paradiseeeee

Ok back now yall....

....So my favorite unconfirmed but alleged story around 'Pink Moon' is that Nick Drake recorded the album in like 24 hours....it wasn't necessarily an album proper but the label was pressuring him for something....at the time Nick was so depressed he took to isolating himself quite abit, paranoid and suicidal......he was also smoking copious amounts of hashish which can cause introversion (introspection) and withdrawal from socialization.....

....anyhow Nick showed up at the record labels office waiting to hand the 'Pink Moon' to his manager....He was aloof and indifferent to the receptionist who stated she'd fetch him.....after about 2 minutes, the receptionist stated that she would go look for him herself and left Nick alone at the desk.....When she got back Nick was gone and the tapes were left on the desk.....No one from the record label heard from him again....

Things Behind The Sun definitely sounds paranoid.

Slam on religion?

And if you see what's meant to be
Don't name the day or try to say
It happened before

He talks about being on the floor himself soon.
There's Still Time.........

I think its the most transcendental piece of music I've ever heard.....according to sources this was just an idea for a song Nick had for future reference....thank the good lord for leaving it the way it is.....reminiscent of Radiohead's treefingers for me.

Things behind the sun seems to me to be the only fully realized song on the album yet this album is perfect.

I don't know what it's about, but it's very poetic.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Know....simple and to the point

no one could know how amazing this song is by just reading the lyrics.  This is WHY music was invented.

Lifting the mask from a local clown
Feeling down like him
Seeing the light in a station bar and
Traveling far in sin
Sailing downstairs to the northern line
Watching the shine of the shoes
Hearing the trials of the people there
Who's to care if they lose?

Take a look you may see me on the ground
For I am the parasite of this town

Dancing a jig in a church with chimes
A sign of the times today
Hearing no bell from the steeple tall
People all in dismay
Falling so far on a silver spoon
Making the moon for fun
Changing a rope for a size too small
People all get hung

Take a look you may see me coming through
For I am the parasite who travels two by two

When I'm lifting the mask from a local clown
And feeling down like him
And I'm seeing the light in a station bar
And travelling far in sin
And I'm sailing downstairs to the northern line
Watching the shine of the shoes
And hearing the trials of the people there
Who's to care if they lose?

Take a look you may see me on the ground
For I am the parasite of this town

Take a look you may see me in the dirt
For I am the parasite who hangs from your skirt

This verse leaves no doubt that he was in a serious state of depression.........and very aware of what he was trying to communicate.

this record is 40 years old....and he's basically writting the same lyrics that thom yorke is writting now.
There's Still Time.........

sweatboard

Falling fast and falling free
You look to find a friend
Falling fast and falling free
This could just be the end
Falling fast you stoop to touch
And kiss the flowers that bend
And you're ready now
For the harvest breed

There's Still Time.........

And none of you stand so tall
Pink moon gonna get ye all
And it's a pink moon

There's Still Time.........

To me it is crazy how little anyone knows about this artist....If it was just pink moon i'd understand but he had 2 previous, incredible albums which had arrangements and other musicians....hell joe boyd produced Five Leaves Left and Bryter Layter.

Short album so gonna play it again. No complaints with this selection, except I couldn't play it all time. I'd have to be in a certain mood.

I look forward to hearing what he sounds like with a band.

A day once dawned
And it was beautiful
A day once dawned from the ground
Then the night she fell
And the air was beautiful
The night she fell all around
So look see the days
The endless coloured ways
And go play the game that you learnt
From the morning
And now we rise
And we are everywhere
And now we rise from the ground
And see she flies
And she is everywhere
See she flies all around
So look see the sights
The endless summer nights
And go play the game that you learnt
From the morning

Just Beautiful
It's not so bad after all, the Pink Moon's gonna get us all!
