that PWW does sound a little more "fun"

The best thing they've done with that song was picked the tempo up and got the shuffle going. Made a great song even better.

I took a first-timer, but a true rock music fan, who knew the song Golden, but really had no idea that MMJ could rock out.  Halfway through Victory Dance she leans over and says "I'm sold, I love this band".  I said "just wait, it gets better".  Needless to say, she was blown away and thoroughly converted.  That was very satifsfying and kinda funny, because it was only my second show myself.  I loved being so close to the stage, about three people back between Bo and Jim, a sweet spot.
When the bass kicks in on Victory Dance, it just rattles your entire body, I frickin' love that!!! I dug Circuital later in the set, I think its more powerful after the momentum of the set has built up.  Evelyn's Not Real was a cool treat and I was impressed how strong and rocking the ending jam was after the country twang of the first part.
I didn't recognize Phone or War, but I enjoyed the hell out of every song they played whether I knew it or not, even Highly Suspicious, which I don't really love on the album.  There is nothing like MMJ live, they are on another level of live rock greatness than just about any band still in existence.

My friend knows a few Hollywood film and music biz folks so we got backstage (not the inner backstage where the band hangs out, really just an afterparty for the "special people", not that exciting, just another cash bar and some chips and salsa) and there were many people she knew seeing the band for the first time and even all these jaded Hollywood types were invariably impressed with the show, noting how commanding Jim's stage presence is, yet he still comes across as humble and kind.  They also dug all the styles of music the band can do and really excel at.  So it was cool for that.

SF setlist looked like it was on fire, bummed I missed it, looking forward to SD tonight!

I have a friend in SoCal who is going through some serious tough times.  I sent him Wonderful via spotify and told him that it would improve his mood.  Totally hooked him on MMJ and he just told me he got a ticket for tonight's show!  I hope the show is a true barn burner for him!

I took my nephew and another friend, neither of which had seen MMJ.  They were blown away from the first note of VD.  I kept looking over at my nephew, who had a perma-grin that lasted the entire show and into the next day. His face must hurt from smiling so much.  If only we had extended the trip into SF the next night...what an incredible setlist those guys got!!

FUN SHOW! Good Times before and after.

I was laughing pretty hard when Sharon Jones pulled up Ru-Day to come dance with her.
My favorite part of the whole show was the encore and Phone Went West. The band had to have deleted a few songs because the stage crew literally ripped up the setlist after the show. It was really nice meeting Ru-day(thanks a bunch), Apeskies, Larry, Amia, Rizzo, and his girl.

I'm hoping for Lowdown and Xmas Curtain tonight in SD.

I hope you get Xmas Curtain tonight too Non Sin Breaux.  So fun hanging out with you and Ru-Day. I got a couple pics of Ru-Day up on stage with SJ - just need to figure out how to get them out of my phone and into the Forum.  We also have that poster for you from the pre-show!  Just need to figure out how to get it to you!

He called Jim and Patrick "dorks". Otherwise, he was rather complementary. They may be goofy at times, but I take umbrage at calling them dorks.

Rizzos Girl

way better shot of Ru-day than what I got on my cell phone.  Dork!!???  I think not!  Patrick's antics on the drums during Run Through is my favorite part of that one live.

nice meeting you ericm in LA, hope you had a great time in sf as well and a safe return home. Thanks again for the ticket!

Is the signed soundcheck poster the show poster or a different one?

Ru-day...you were a brave and amicable soul for getting up on stage.  I'm guessin' that you didn't have much of a choice though...Sharon Jones doesn't look like a girl who would take no for an answer!  Man she kept you up there for a long time too!

I was the one standing a couple rows back who gave you an "atta boy" pat on the shoulder after you returned from the stage.  Disclaimer:  I was NOT part of the group who kept falling down at your feet towards the end of the MMJ set

Blucas,

Thank you Sir! Oh, and I clearly remember you patting me in the back and saying that...thanks for the good vibes. I was clearly embarrassed/uncomfortable being up there for sooo long, but your little lady would not let me get off the stage. Between the drunken girls behaving like a wild pack of beasts and the poor guy having a seizure attack, I felt like I was going to have an emotional overload.  At the end of the night it was all well worth standing...our boys killed it!!  :)

Apeskies

It was nice meeting you guys! Ru-day, I've got some pics of you onstage as well, but they aren't as good! Bummed you couldn't make it to San Diego, but at least you didn't have to deal with a bunch of high school kids who had no idea who MMJ were =D

Same here Walter. Just got home and am still amped a bit.  I had a great time at both, and hope to definitely do it again some day. Hopefully I'll have more time to hang with you then, but it was good to meet you and Brice. Glad to help with the ticket.
