the hootenanny guy damn near stole the show.

i thought my oldest sister (62) was going to lose her mind during ben sollee's set.  she was absolutely floored by him....."paul simon with a cello."

dmm and yy were great too, but i also was hoping to see the three of them on stage together a bit more.  they played an amazing "where to begin" when they toured together a couple of years ago, i was really hoping for that.   all in all, a wonderful evening, sure hope that recording surfaces soon.

slappymoe

just remembered..."hootenanny guy" = dan dorff, aka the human swiss army knife.

Give me a butt load of reverb on this one - just pile it on.

That was a fantastic show!  So good to see Jim solo again and he's got all kinds of new tricks and treats for us!  Seemed like a preview of what we might see from a Jim solo tour.  Bring it on!

Had a great time hanging with peeps pre and post show!

Thanks - I had Only a Song written down, just forgot to put it on.  Have added both songs.  Thanks for the input.

e_wind

yeah you're spot on. I got a set list and it lists every song except in Jims section it just says "SEVERAL JIM SONGS"

oh and jims first song is called welcome home
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

TEO

Upgrade at The Brown, great pre and post shows, seeing 2 of my best friends, beautiful theater, sitting next to BH during Bermuda Highway, JJ, and enjoying crazylove's company too and fro. It just doesn't get any better!

crazylove

Jim at his most otherworldly, ethereal self.  Felt so lucky to get to see Jim with all the layers peeled away.  Definitely a spiritual experience.  Opening with Welcome home was so fitting, loved sitting next to BH during Bermuda Highway.  Master Voice live, really?!!!!!  I felt Jim's Grandma's presence during Look at You and I could see in his face that he felt her, too!  All in all, another spectacular home town show.  Thanks JJ!   Great seeing old friends and new, too!

I've put together a Spotify playlist with most of the songs from last night.  Unfortunately, they don't have Monsters of Folk.

Upgrade at The Brown,

So I'm guessing no nickel sized unidentified stains on the sheets, or need of a box fan?

Glad you and CL had a great time!
"Where's Jim going?"

BH

What a whirlwind!   Thanks Teo, Crazylove and Dylan for hanging with me!   Great to see Kory for a bit too!   Miss that guy.

Jim's set was really great.   The looping was a new surprise.   BH like.    Moving Away was a highlight for me.   The stripped down Losin' My Head was great too and opening with the first ever Welcome Home?  Well that was special.    I was suprised as well about less collaboration but it didn't really take away from the show at all.   Ben Sollee is so awesome.   Try and Only A Song sounded soooo good.    I thought for sure a couple of those covers were new Jim songs.   They sounded like something he would do!     Can't wait to hear a boot of this!

If only I would have had a knife and an ATM.......
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

FWIW, Streams just Want to be Heard is "Mute with a Bullhorn".

Also, did anyone else notice that Jim started to play "Bermuda Highway" a second time, caught himself right before he started and switched to a different song.
And of course the mirror being a portal to another dimension speech by Jim was pretty awesome.

e_wind

That mirror being a portal speech was almost the exact same thing he said at the chicago show this year, except in chicago it was two huge murals on walls

Hi all, just got home from Louisville with a stop at the Music City Bowl in Nashville. It was a great show. I can't say much more about it than what you all have already said. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that he started playing Bermuda Highway for a second time and then caught himself. I was down front on the opposite side of the stage from him. I would have loved to see him in the middle of the stage. The endings where he did all of his oohs and aaaaahhhs were great. Really enjoyed his memory of the first time he came to this theater was in fifth grade for a Led Zeppelin laser show. Great show all around.

Jane

I'm crossing my fingers for a bootleg because that was a special night.
