don´t know if this already been discussed but will there be an official release of the show ?

According to a radio station website it will be released on CD and DVD in the future, with money going to support Levon Helm's property. We also saw many cameras filming last night so it seems definite.

Love For Levon just started on PBS (Eastern Time) just 2 minutes ago! (11:00 p.m.)

Edit: It looks like it is scheduled for only one and a half hours instead of the three hours AXSTV broadcast (pretty sure MMJ's stuff will be on it though).
