this is exciting. I hope this includes VIP viewing area for just that show, since the rail is impossible without VIP passes at forecastle. I also hope it includes some sort of side/late night show. I am soooooooo pumped. I know I'm biased, but Forecastle is such a great festival.
I wonder if this is different than, or in addition to the VIP tickets on the Forecastle site...

I asked the wife first and she said, "(The Ottawa) Bluesfest should be the priority!"

So, the odds of us going are low, although I may buy tickets anyway in case the Bluesfest's lineup for that weekend sucks (but that's unlikely).

I'm in at The Galt House too.  :)

Thanks Penny.

You know it Sister.  I missed Red Rocks. I'm not missing this one.   I've needed something to look forward to and this just satisfied that. If my wife can't make it I may bring my younger brother.  Can't wait to see everyone.

Im not going VIP, but at forecastle in the past VIP is an area in front of general viewing. That means Id suspect the ticket upgrades for Roll Call include VIP viewing for that show.

I will say though... 350 for VIP is way cheaper than other festival VIPs. I'm going for the 100$ tickets though.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

Changed my reservation to Galt House as well.

I was having trouble justifying this when it just seemed like an MMJ festival set, but now the curating thing makes it seem like a definite.  Just give me solo sets by Jim and Carl in addition to a nice long MMJ headlining set and I'm, um, Golden.
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

I'm trying to make this happen, but meeting resistance.  Its well deserved, for all the MMJ-related shows, travelling, and money spent over the past 3 years.

Any restrictions as to how long MMJ will play Saturday night?  Curfews, noise ordiances?  I'd think the local-boys-made-good would get to play to sunrise if they so desired.

I'd love to meet your wife. I hope she decides to go. You could take her on a day trip to some of the distilleries. Or heck we could all do that. There has got to be something romantic you could do to win her over. Or just start charging for omnichord lessons  ;D ! I've heard it's a high-demand instrument!

Fully, you should offer to babysit and maybe they'll come.
I could bring an 11y/o who loves to babysit, but it would seriously curtail my fun.

Does Forecastle do single day passes or single event passes? Going to Colombia soon after will not be able to afford a full weekend..

Anyone have guestimate on late night show costs?

Edit:single day available @ later date. Hopefully around 50 bucks...
Edit2.0 haha v

e_wind

They will do singles, later on. I'd guess 50$-60$

OK, will chat with Mrs. headhunter tonight about this one but didn't want to miss out so I booked a room at the Who is John Galt House.

Red Rocks worked perfectly in 2011.
Forecastle 2012 -- nice ring to it.

was some shakin' and some record playin'

Oh my goodness...would love!, love!!, love!!! to get to see Carl solo...I hope that they do not neglect themselves while picking other bands...kind of psyched to see what this lineup will look like.  :)

My thinking too.   No idea if I can pull this off but with a generous room cancellation policy, why not?   So I'm in for the Galt House too.   Sounds like a party.

Now buying Roll Call tix - that will be a bigger commitment.
