Wow, thanks everyone! I'm booking my room at the galt sometime this week for Thursday through Monday. I'll be leaving Austin at noon and arriving in louisville at 4:45.

Looks like I'm in for one festival this summer.  And Forecastle seems to be a no brainer.  Besides the MMJ factor, other pluses include not being too big and hotels instead camping.  Unless Newport or Lolla announces a crazy lineup then another trip to Louisville is in the cards.  The other hesitation is MMJ possibly announcing a bunch of other East coast shows and then devoting days off, etc for a few of those instead. 

Headlining shows at potentially smaller venues vs. the Forecastle show/festival experience.....which is better?  I've seen MMJ 12 times but never a festival show.

Just in case anyone cares.  We drove up to Louisville for Ryan Adams a couple of weeks ago.  While we were there we asked to take a tour of "The Gault"  It smelled like a combination of rotten shrimp, mexican/beef armpit, and dirty mop water......I'm talking about the room.  Again, FYI.

IMO festival shows are never as good as tour dates - the setlists tend to be hits-heavy and tailored more for the casual fan.  BUT I think this one has the potential to be different.  They always do it up for Louisville shows and since they're helping to curate the fest, they'll probably have some special guests joining them.  I say go for it!

Funny, I too was there and ordered a delicious combo plate of rotten shrimp and armpit beef tacos with a dirty-moptini.  Fab. U. Lous.

The galthouse is extremely nice. Sorry about your luck but that's no reason to not stay at the closest/nicest hotel in the area.

I smell upgrade to the Presidential suite, although thats probably how I'm gonna leave my room smelling anyway.  Like Cigarettes, Jack Daniels  and hot fart potpourri.  I'm such a prize  ::)
