I need to figure out a way to make this a "reminder" that automatically has a link on my phone for when I'm on the go

Chode, was that you're old signature? If so, it's very prescient. If not, it's so true! The assholes have prevailed!!!! It's a good day to be an asshole. First Ruckus gets married and now this.

Server must be busy from all the listeners to Sir Microcosm, which is proving to be a delicious soundtrack to my basement work

The guys haven't been putting the eps up on Soundcloud for a little while now. Anyone recording them?  Any alt sources? I'm never home on Wednesday nights to listen online.
Babe, let's get one thing clear, there's much more stardust when you're near.

Yeah, I wonder about this too, it's not easy being time zone challenged!

I'm pretty sure Sir Microcosm has ceased making his aural pleasures available to all the gentle listeners because he wants his gentle listeners to live in the moment, which is all time and space, and trust that when we are ready to receive the FRUITS of his cosmic loins, that he will bestow them upon us with intense aural pleasure. If we are to find these FRUITS, we must first seek the Microcosm within our gentle selves, listeners.  It is our light, not our DeBussy that we most fear.

MamaKel

So, I'm listening to Sir Microcosm...because, well, it's Wednesday.  And there have been a few episodes where they played hard rock or even metal music.  This week seems to be punk-based.  Now, I dig Bowie and The Clash and The Ramones...but I noticed that I'm getting a headache.  I think I was like way more willing to be into hard music when I was younger and partying and stuff.  But now, I don't really feel it anymore.  I really try to keep an open mind, but I can't open the brainframe when my head hurts.  Am I just getting old? Like...I kind of require melody...and a little less guitar thrashing.  Shit. I'm fucking getting old.

MamaKel

The Clash is awesome. The reggae bass lines, the clever lyrics...I really like them...and Elvis Costello has the same kind of vibe with "Watching the Detectives"...really great segue.  But, I was just reading about the genius of Television...and how Marquee Moon is supposed to be this genius Punk Floyd deal.  I'm not ready for it.  I don't know that I ever will be.  I have to say it. I feel like I deal with people complaining a lot...and sometimes punk music can sound like complaining.

Dagnabbit!  I've missed the freaking show again!!!!

Well, I spent the last hour singing MMJ songs to the kids instead of lullabies. I may not be a rock star and I may not be great at approximating JJs voice (no reverb man!) but while I sing the boys stare at me with awed grins like I'm the coolest thing on the planet. No wonder so many people become musicians!

Anyway, MamaKel, I'm extra sorry I missed this ep because I love punk and post punk and raunchy power pop and blistering indie rock (as if "indie" actually means anything anymore, but I'm sure y'all know generally what I mean by it). I love when those guitars get loud and the singer gets angry - it channels the frustrations and rages I have inside that I can't let out. It's cathartic!  Personally, I find freedom in that kind of loud. (Not a metal fan or aggro music of other kinds, generally, unless it's stoner rock or thrash).

Maybe you have become successful at the alchemy of taking frustration and anger and turning them into something productive so you don't need that kind of catharsis?

Maybe it's just my participation in the local punk scene when I was young, but that kind of sneery, whiny vocal style sounds a bit sexy to me.

Oh man, babies thinking their moms are heroes, especially under MMJ pretenses, is the best thing in the universe.  Do you have pictures of your little ones?!!!! I'd love to see them!

There are a few things in life I rarely miss...I am at a 98% loyalty rating on the Sir Microcosmos...I feel like we should talk about it more on The Forum!

If you get a chance, send me some of your favorite punk tunes.  I could always stand to learn.  I am mostly too tired to get frustrated...hahahahahaha.  I mostly cry instead of getting angry...so I make myself into an electric blanket burrito and listen to Nick Drake for hours on end.  It's way better than Xanax.

@MamaKel: You know, this singing thing is good for the soul. We sang again tonight and they were all smiles. Here is a link to a FB photo of my boys from last month http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151297249991005&set=t.569942343&type=3&theater

I totally agree that Sir Microcosm is not talked about on the Forum enough. I'm really surprised it's not. I love hearing JJ be silly and loose.

Some of my fave punk?  Hmmm, a lot of it was local stuff.

Oh man they are so cute!!!!!! The little one looks JUST LIKE YOU!!!! I LOVE his red hair.  They are such adorable boys!!! Where were they?

LeanneP

They were at the Hamilton Music Awards (local music awards) where my husband won Publicist of the Year.

Leanne - glad I'm not the only one that does this.  I was singing along with Jim to Silent Night and O Holy Night LAST night, to my 4-month-old daughter.  She would crack the biggest smile when you'd get to the loud parts..."Faaaaallllllll on your knees...." and "Sleeeepppp in heaaaaavenly peeeeeeeeeace"!  I took a video but will probably never show anyone because I hate my singing voice   Rock on
We could.

Hawkeye

Awesome CC!   I have yet to hear one but will be checking that out!
We could.

LeanneP

Very cool, Hawkeye!  Our little ones give us such wonderful, unfiltered, loving feedback, don't they?
