You have not tried Sweet Heart Sweet Light yet    It is the best thing he has done since Ladies and Gentlemen we ....  in my humble opinion.  Try, i don't think you will be disappointed.  If you are you could berate me semi publicly on the interweb :)

I'm digging Big Moon Ritual better now but that's because I've been listening to it all summer and I haven't really had a chance to really get into The Magic Door yet.

I agree about Lee Ranaldo.  Like that one quite a bit.  It didn't crack my top list, but it is way better than I thought it would be.

Just heard the new Beth Orton and would have to add that one to my list.

Also, thanks to recommendations I saw on here, I checked out the new Hearless Bastards and really liked it.

no one has mentioned Fake Blood by Floating Action. That came out this year, no? Is it just not as good as Desert Etiquette?

Fake Blood is fantastic. A big time grower for sure. I wouldn't say it's better or worse than his self-titled or Desert Ettiquette -- I think all his albums are equally awesome. They're hard to tell apart actually. You could also mix and match tracks from each and it wouldn't be weird, they have a very consistent sound.

I haven't made a "best of the year" list, but when I do, Fake Blood will be on it. And if I were to make a "best songs of the year" list, "Silent Partner", "Remorse Code", "Not What I Came For", "No Waves" and "Remorse Code" would all be on it.

ALSO - Seth included a personalized note with all pre-order vinyl copies, and I thought that was just about the coolest thing ever.

that is awesome. im bummed i got into him/them after the release date. I just listened on Spotify, and I definitely think it'll be up there for me.


i was just poking around his website and remembered that awhile ago I bought the split 7" he has with Dr. Dog. I guess I didn't realize what it was at the time (I bought it along wiht whatever else I could carry out of Ear-X-Tacy's last day open).
