I hope to have this in hand tomorrow, the perks of having once worked at a record store that has survived.  The owner called today, holding two copies for me.

I've been hesitant to share this story, but its too good to keep to myself.

I took my daughter to her first concert, Alabama Shakes, in April.  Afterward, we met Brittany Howard out back... photo, autograph, and a nice chat about how awesome MMJ is.  We also discussed that the Shakes and Jacket would be at Newport on the same day.

Brittany and my daughter, Katherine.

It got me thinking, so I emailed management that I thought a collaboration with Jim and Brittany at Newport would be perfect.  I got a reply that my email had been forwarded to Jim.  Later, they told me Jim had reached out to Brittany while they were on tour with Jack White.  Finally, an email a few weeks before Newport came in... "We're trying to make your Newport dreams come true."

I was there, in Newport, when Brittany came on stage to join MMJ for It Makes No Difference.  I was blown away, brought to tears.  Having it released on vinyl is such delicious icing!  This release is really special to me.

JY - Another awesome experience for you; story for us.  Thanks for sharing!
Give me a butt load of reverb on this one - just pile it on.

Wow that is awesome. Thanks for sharing Yac attack. I am looking forward to Friday. I think I read the record will be orange, which will be cool. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Here it is, in its entirety, our cover of ELO's Telephone Wire

Thanks, everyone.  Wasn't sure how to share the story without sounding, I don't know...   :undecided:

I actually have no idea if my email got the ball rolling or if it was already in the works.  I don't really care.  Just another great moment, regardless.  MMJ keeps finding new ways to blow me away.

I am thankful for great music, which led me here to a neat little corner of the interweb.  This forum not only enriched my love for MMJ, but introduced me to the coolest people from all over the world.  Looking forward to seeing many of you to ring in the New Year with the Jacket!  Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Black Friday Record Store Day!

Not impressed with the packaging.  A paper insert, 2-sided, in a plastic sleeve.  More interested in how it sounds, though.  Haven't listened yet.

I think this just goes to show how much the band and their management care about their fans. That's a really cool story John and thanks for sharing! Now I can't wait to hear both songs (speaking of which. Once again, if someone could snag a copy for me that'd be beyond amazing!).

Listening to It Makes No Difference for the first time right now.

The vocal mix is excellent.  A solid recording, better than I remember it, to be honest.  Her mic was low in the mix, as I recall.  This is stellar.

That is the coolest damn story I've ever heard Yac! Nice work!

Record looks sweet too! Can't wait to hear this B-side.

Great to hear that story once again, John!  What a great orchestration of a collaboration leading to a song captured in vinyl for all eternity.

Here's a lousy pix I took inches from the rail and inches from you John, although I can't remember where exactly your were - maybe just behind me.

Groovin'

Lots a horns

Mellow outro, a la the... no wait... major spoiller

The same instrumentral outro as I Will Sing You Songs

Hey Rob.  That picture is perfect!  i was actually back at the blankets with my family.  I think you were off the rail a tad, too.  What a great day.

I may have a few extra copies when all is said and done.  Also, I wouldn't be surprised if some stores have a few copies the next day or two.  Remember, not everyone is crazy like us.  I remember going nuts getting copies of the red Outta My System/Friends Again vinyl (still have an extra), but they're everywhere... even now.  I have a waiting list developing, though, so don't rely on me just yet.

Yac- thanks so much for the update on the B-side.   I was really curious as to what it was going to be and with no record player, had to come here to find someone with an early report.  Not surprised it's you

I assume that I'll have no problem getting multiple of these, because I've never had the problem before with MMJ RSD releases. If thats the case, I'll have some for whoever needs em.

This is, I suppose, technically their 6th RSD release correct? The 3 picture disks that were left over from T5, Circuital, FA/OMS, now this.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...
