Hmmmm.....I haven't bought a CD in quite a long time. Usually only buy vinyls or online now. But I may order this. Got the vinyl pre-order in but wouldn't mind supporting Jim as well as getting the autograph for that cheap.

It seems like RS has mentioned either MMJ or JJ for like 4-5 issues straight. I'm thinking he's going to get a lead review and maybe even an interview. I just wish they'd give the band a goddamn cover already.

Thanks YYac - didn't know Skrillex had a new one out.
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

Starting to see Regions of Light advertised everywhere - youtube, my e-mail. Jim James is taking over the interwebs.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Got in  my car after work today, radio was on WFHB - the local volunteer- powered community radio station ( coolest station in town, possibly the whole state).
Pulled out of lot w/ my mind on traffic, dinner, packing tonite for trip to JJ show in Nville tomorrow, etc..
Listening and thinking " Cool, they're playing some classic old soul tune....what is it?.....I know it........" , then it hits me - it's the end of " A New Life"!!!
Great to hear Jim gettin some airplay in Bloomington
My heart pumps away for your loving touch, My Sweet Juls. You know I never, I Never Could Get Enough

Check Out the Year's First Great Record: My Morning Jacket Frontman Jim James's Solo Album

Jim James, the frontman for the ethereal, reverby southern-rock band of bros My Morning Jacket, has become famous in music quarters for recording vocals in abandoned silos and harnessing his beard to deep cosmic forces. "This might sound weird, but I don't like my personal appearance to look crafted by human hands," James says. "So if I don't cut my hair and I don't cut my beard, that's just the universe naturally growing out of me." It definitely sounds weird—but it's also exactly the sort of thing you expect from Jim James. What you don't expect from him is Regions of Light and Sound of God, a solo bedroom record full of drum loops and horn samples that could almost be described as sexy. Yes, it's a concept album based on a 1929 graphic novel by Lynd Ward that uses a series of woodcuts to tell the wordless parable of a painter who escapes a dark path to find his soulmate and raise goats in a field of heather—sexy!—but Regions of Light is also a product of James's listening to a ton of Curtis Mayfield and Stevie Wonder. "I grew up in the grunge era with the myth that if you're going to make anything of any value, you've gotta be a miserable fuck," he says. "But I just got turned on to this new feeling that life and art doesn't have to be a fucking bummer. You can have a happy life and write music about it."

I gotta say, for a guy who writes happy, JJ is looking awful sad in all of these pics.  Cheer up Jim, the universe loves you.
Babe, let's get one thing clear, there's much more stardust when you're near.

Check out All is Forgiven then the intro to the Dondante at PC.  That's it right?

Good call!  I have to agree, its at least on Jim's mind while he's coming in for a landing... This is crazy good!  I'm not sure I'd come out of this Dondante the same person had I been at PC.

Fortunately I did not have any plans for the the next 25 minutes and 7 seconds.  I'm not sure I hear "All is Forgiven" in the intro but got totally sucked into this monster.  The PC run was unbelievable.

I agree. That is what I thought too when I saw those Grammy promos.

I know he has been spreading a message of positivity but I feel I undercurrent of sadness and sincere pain. Like he hurts but is trying to be a good person and is trying to set an example for his fans, use his fame to spread a joy that he may or may not feel.

The recent articles in Rolling Stone he talked about the 2008 stage fall and how he was in a "dark place." He alludes to an addiction but never really comes out and says it. I wonder if he is truly ok.

Hey, based on a heavy tour load in 2012 during which I was fortunate enough to sample quite a number of shows, all of them stellar, and not hearing otherwise from anyone else, I think Jim is just fine.

Look, he's a complex personality and he's not going to have a smile pasted on his face all the time.  And many of the "dark times" he talks about are several years ago.

I guess we'll soon have a new look into JJ's soul when he hits the road for the new album - so looking forward to hearing reviews from you lucky ones who can go and seeing him on Fallon in a few days.

Jim's beard IS NOT gray and he does not look like Dan Haggerty's Grizzly Adams. AT ALL.

Also for all of you worrying about our Jim, he was not looking sad on Friday. He was moving and a grooving quite a lot and his hair looked like the universe had used unicorns and rainbows to style it. And the man looked fine in his new suit! So happy for the demise of the brownfit!!!

LeanneP

I'm not worried about the guy - I'm just pointing out the interesting juxtaposition: one of Jim's talking points for this round of interviews was that the tortured artist this was BS and yet every in every media photo lately he looks bummed. Irony!
