Got my vinyl in the mail yesterday. Loved spinning it even though i've heard it already. So great.

This seems pretty darn good for an solo album and one that hasn't even been released yet:

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #61 in Music (See Top 100 in Music)
#2 in Music > Alternative Rock > Indie & Lo-Fi > Indie Rock
#8 in Music > Pop > Adult Alternative
#32 in Music > Rock
Its now #48 in all Amazon music sales, the day before the release date.   It's been in the top 100 for 8 days.  I think Jim's album will sell well.

Now up to #13, 9 days in the top 100 bestsellers for Amazon.

Well damn I'm happy I held out before listening to this album. The wait was definitely worth it! Love that there is a difference in this album from MMJ albums, yet a slight resemblance to MMJ.
The songs really do flow well one into the other. I just keep thinking about how great a lot of these songs can transition live on stage (especially after witnessing "New Life" on Jimmy Fallon).

I have spun this record about 5 to 6 times and each time I find something new about it that I love.

Thanks Jim!

I'm  playing the vinyl in class today. My low level kids really liked it. Very surprised by that. The sarcastic kid with a supercilious attitude just asked me if was Nickelback. Yeah, whatever. We'll see how they like the rest of it. I'm in my top level class now, and we are listening to All is Forgiven. Also, the vinyl sounds great, btw. I liked but didn't love the album when I first listened to the leak. After seeing it live, I haven't been able to stop listening to it. It really made the difference.

Maybe theyre low level because you keep throwing out words like supercilious at them!

After seeing the Fallon shows, I can definitely see how seeing this album live would change things. Im willing to give it a few more chances.

Actually the supercilious student is a advanced placement student - completely different class than my struggling students. He even laughs at how supercilious he is. It's one of their vocabulary words.

You should definitely give the album more time and see it live. Seriously.

Hi people-
Any Metacritic registrants in the house? It appears the site needs two more ratings in order to establish a user score for the record. If you care to throw in your two cents, head on over.

With superstorm Nemo en route, I've been checking the weather online all day.  My students noticed an ad to the right...

Of course, its probably tailored to the user, so...

Not everyone, but quite a few.  I teach high school science, going on 18 years, but for 3 as an asst. principal.

English lit, language, and comp. I've got a student teacher right now, so I am also teaching someone how to teach (that's always harder for me than teaching my students)

perfect subjects  for incorporating music into education. wish I had an English teacher like you back in high school. my honors English was taught by a drunk woman who only wore makeup on half of her face and made us memorize solilques from Hamlet.

I had an English teacher like that, except he played Beatles records and sipped "medicine" while we read books. ENGLISH CLASS WAS AWESOME

Sounds pretty awesome. I use to work with a guy who had to drink his V8 every day during homeroom. I always suspected it wasn't just a V8. Gin blossoms can't keep a secret. Also, tomorrow I want all of you to be able to recite Hamlet's To be or not to be soliloquy. Next week we'll work on Mark Antony's speech from Julius Caesar.

those were the good ol' days when your teachers were openly drunks and kids used to get 'cracks' and the whole school would hear it? teachers used to smoke in the teachers lounges, you could smell the stench...
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

My first job, in rural NC, was right next to a tobacco farm.  We had many smoking options... and the students used to rub tobacco leaves in their hands during class, addicted to nicotine from picking and absorbing it through the skin.
