GET OFF THE PHONE, JIM!! I predict that in the next video we get to stare at his back while he decides tile placement in Words With Friends.

All silliness aside, I like the song and I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the album.

What are the chances of us hearing this at PC3 or NYE? That would be such a nice treat...

I would think this or another song off the new album would be a distinct possibility in PC given the "no repeats" promise.  And that would be a good excuse to play one of Carl's - like "Carried Away".

Ha, he's to busy on his cell to draw something on the white wall.  It's a good point, it's kind of like how you wonder if the film reel is going to move onto a diffrent frame the first time you watch the video but it just remains on that one shot.  It's interesting that Jim is continuous and repeating within a frame that seems to struggle to progress to the next one on the reel. Thank God it's just a video and we have all his amazing song movies/walls of graffiti to enjoy.

Also,  Thanks Penny and MamaKel for the nice comments.

You NEVER know what to expect from Jim.  Just listened to it and I am pleasantly surprised.  Sometimes he can get a little too "out there" for my taste, but this was funky and fun.  I dig it.  Can't wait for more...

I hear you.  Jim's "out there" but not far out enough that it's outside of my wheelhouse.  I have no idea what to expect from the rest of the album.  But very excited to hear what else is up his sleeve.  So creative.  I like this song a lot the more I hear it (usually a good sign).  Also like EverythingChanges said..... groovy was what I thought of the song.  "The past of the future"..... Love that line!

Extra cool that the shirt was designed by a Forum member.  Congrats AMC.

I LOVE the T-Shirt!!  I was struck by it even before I knew a forum member designed it.  Awesome Job..I like that MMJ is open to fan art.

Also, "the past of the future" IS truly brilliant.

I think I've come to the conclusion that this video is Jim's impersonation of the back 15 rows of any given Wilco concert.

He's definitely scratching his balls.

So, are some of y'all really buying this now, three months before it is released?  I guess I can see where if you get the deluxe edition where it is rare it could be beneficial.  But to spend $17 on the vinyl and then $6 to ship it now, when it will be available at some locals a week prior to the drop date is kinda odd.  Are you just "reserving" a copy now?  I went in and it was asking for a credit card.  I guess I kinda see it like buying a ticket to a concert that is general admission, five months before the concert date, when you know it won't sell out.

Found these today:

Thanks for posting! That SPIN article is great. Looks like:

- Jim isn't going to play a show until after the album is released
- band contains some old friends from Louisville

I also found this quote very interesting:

"I didn't feel like I was selling my soul to the devil or anything but there was a time a few years ago when I wasn't listening to my heart a lot and I was traveling a dark path and it resulted in a physical injury. I fell off the stage [at a 2008 MMJ show in Iowa City] and not following my heart led to me being physically injured, which was a very horrible experience and very psychologically traumatic. I thought that might be the end of me."

Wonder what was going on in Jim's head during that 2008 tour? Seems like some heavy shit!

James played nearly all the instruments on the LP, which includes the gorgeous instrumental "Exploding," with acoustic fingerpicking and sweet psychedelic electric guitar overdubs, and the spare, optimistic pop of "A New Life."

Mixing analog and digital recording techniques, James created vocal sound collages on "Know Til Now" – which evolves into a psychedelic jazz excursion – and the spooky "God's Love to Deliver.

And

"I want to tour for this record and I'm gonna bring a band 'cause I want to play the record as it is recorded, with all the instrumentation but then, yeah, I'm sure I'll probably do a couple of songs each night acoustic and stuff like that but I want this show to be more of a more danceable affair."

I'm real excited to see what Jim comes up with for his live shows, hopefully Chicago is on his list of dates!

Took a while, but the single has officially grown on me -- big time! Haven't been able to get it out of my head for two days now. Normally I hate when songs get stuck in my head, but this song has so many different parts that I always find a different little hook or riff pops in there. Right now it's that sweet little synth (or maybe guitar?) riff that comes after the chorus.

I don't think this was posted....
