There are some good choices.  If we're a big crowd then Wild Wings might be easiest.  Stella's is good, but small.  Bar Taco also has a lively bar, but it can get crowded and noisy.

This is probably the only time Ill ever say this, but I'd prefer BWW. The 29th is UL/UK basketball game day. Biggest sporting event of the year for me (and most of the state of KY). Ill be watching that game one way or another.

Guys... From the looks of this, we are going to be near 30 peeps when all is said and done.   It looks like BWW makes this most sense... Please speak now if there is another place that is close by that can accommodate our group.  If not, I will call there in the next couple of days to see if there is any way we can reserve some tables. I know that this is generally not possible at chains, but with a group our size they might be able to make an exception.

maybe the best option would be just to get some 40's and kick it in front of the Cap. Maybe there is a good stoop near the venue?

It looks like there's a commuter parking lot right next to the venue; can't we just tailgate?

This would be amazing!  I would much rather tailgate.  The only thing is, I think most people will be hitting the train since it is a super easy way to get to PC. So if we don't have cars, and the lot is not tied to the venue in anyway, I think a crowd of jacket fans slinging 40's in an empty lot could draw the wrong sort of attention... Probably get kicked out for loitering in under an hour.

I'm driving and the venue says the parking is open to concert goers. I think we should have a tailgating area right next to the venue...then we can just get in line before the doors open.

Some people really want to watch that basketball game and it will probably be cold. I don't mind spending some time outdoors, but I want to be indoors. I was fine with BWW even though I hate their food.

br00ke

i'm down with BWW as well as tailgating. I hope to get up there via train around lunch time / early afternoon and will need to eat so some time will be spent indoors at some sort of bar/restaurant situation .. but i'm not above brown-bagging a bottle of bourbon for the last hour or so if it's not inhumanly cold.

millerjustin

I agree with Br00ke - warm bar, then a cold hour-ish outside venue to see the scene preferred.

BWW is a soul sucking chain - we can take over the bar at bar taco and I'm sure that those who want to sit and eat will find a table to grub at.  I'm also sure there will be different waves of peeps rolling in, as many will be a little late after cleaning up their undies @ the Marriott following pre show chugs

That sounds good...Bartaco is a pretty cool place (at least the one in West Hartford is).

Are we talking about playing 40 Hands?  Been a long time since we used to kick off every Friday night in college with that one.

So... I think it is quite apparent that nobody wants' to do a chain if they don't have to, but we have a couple of things to consider:

1. The place needs to be big enough.  We are going to have 30+ people and we are going to need to have a defined space for our group.  The point of the MMJ pregame is so that we can drink beers and talk jacket with other fans.  If we end up in a bar that is too packed, it may be difficult to organize the group in a way that people will really get to meet one another.

2.  The place needs to be within walking distance to the venue.  We don't need people scrambling for cabs at show time. I think the idea on the table is: hang out in a bar for a few hours, then grab some 40's and tailgate in front of the venue. The closer we are, the easier this will be.

3. There needs to be t.v's.  Apparently, a number of people are going to be watching the Kentucky game during the MMJ hang.

I have never been to Bar Taco so as long as all of these things can be accomplished, I would much rather not end up a BWW.  But if not, we may need to suck it up and meet there.  At the end of the day, it is all about us.  We will bring the party.  It doesn't matter which venue we choose!
