I saw it in IMAX and it was Incredible!!!

Audio visual spectacle that will have very few peers.  This deserves to be seen on the largest screen possible!
Awesome sound design and music!

I wish I could have seen it twice over the weekend!

I'm glad you enjoyed it!  We have been discussing going to see Dune in a good theater but haven't found the time (or will) yet.  I found my old copy of the original book that I was tempted to reread but thought better of it.  IMAX is tempting.  Did you see it in 3D?

ChiefOKONO

The more I think about it the more I feel that it is a must see in the theater.  My brother told me the sound was pretty crappy when trying to watch at home in particular, and of course the screen size.

I did not see it in 3D but I would like to.  Unfortunately I am not sure if or when I would be able to go again.  I do want to see it again in the theater though before the run is over.  If I could have gone again on Sunday I would have in a heartbeat.  What a great cast!  I loved Jason Momoa.

I read the book last year again when the pandemic started and burned through it pretty quickly.  One thing that struck me was all of the complex threads (the religious ones come to mind) that I did not fully understand when first reading it as a kid.  I also have a lot of fond memories of playing the RTS game Dune 2.

I just watched last night and loved it.  I never read the book so I can say the movie holds up well on it's own without any background knowledge of the story.  Crazy how many similarities to Star Wars

I'm in the same boat as you davymac, never read the book, but dug the movie.  I also saw the many many scenes highly inspired by Star Wars, and I think seeing those as homages made it more fun for me.

Actually, George Lucas got the inspiration from DUNE for Tattooine and a bunch of other stuff.  Dune, the novel first came out in 1965.

Interesting.  I was reading a magazine article on my flight home from NOLA about how Lucas used WW2 war movies as his choreography for the aerial battles.

Yes I heard about that before too.

Also on an interesting side note, there may be some real life connections with the color of the blaster bolts in Star Wars according to this thread:

Wow, that gets kinda in-depth there, talking about space gasses and such.

Yeah it's a little out there for me but I thought it was cool to read about the US/NATO vs old USSR round colors.

In case you missed it, the release date of the Blu Ray/4K versions has been announced.  I am really hoping that they do a double feature when part 2 comes out so I can see it in the theaters again!!
