Friends and I were just debating when they'd enter new covers into the catalog and what. Figured maybe one new cover last night and some standard dancers. Never imagined this.
I'm surrounded by assholes

They started a few minutes late apparently, that's why the 2 crossed out songs.

That's right- it was all coordinated pretty carefully to end at 11:50 - then an inflatable MMJ champagne bottle was set up, the countdown began, and at midnight they burst into OBH while balloons and confetti were dropped.

Jim sang one song with the PHJB.

I'm guessing St. James Infirmary?

Can anyone confirm the name of the song?

Damn. It was a set filled with standards that rawked, but then that encore...damn. Favorite moment: during phone this athiest decided that whatever god really is speaks through Jim's music.this one and the Port Chester one were both the best ever.

Did anyone catch all of Jim's speech about the true meaning of NYE? It was short, sweet, & his most talkative moment of the night. I think he called it a "Holy Night," but he may have just said "cold night"! Then he said it was: "A time of change, a time of hope, a time of promise" (perhaps not in that order).

Will hope to reflect more later, but I have been seeing MMJ with some regularity since 2006, & I would have to say last night was my best yet. Love this band, this fan community. Happy 2013 to all!

All Night Long - was that Lionel Ritchie?

You're right on that one, he did say it was a holy night haha! These guys turned it into a holy night, that show was unforgettable. There weren't as many deep cuts but they completely made up for it with their performances of these tracks and a bunch of awesome covers, the whole night was upbeat and fun to ring in the new year.

Some things that really stuck out to me were the trance-inducing jams I'd never heard them do before at the beginnings and endings of some songs (Off the Record, Steam Engine, Wonderful, Cobra). I know there were others just can't remember where they fell. The covers were perfect choices, first time I got Rocket Man! In The Midnight Hour and Hungry Heart were two highlights as well, probably my favorites out of that group. The band was having so much fun too, especially after the balloons and confetti rained down. Couldn't think of a better way to ring in the New Year, hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2013!!
his arms were thin, and off into the night they ran

I've been to a lot of shows over the years, but never have I myself, and witnessed others, having so much friggin fun last night.

I was in F3, row J, seats 1-2 on the center aisle.  Everybody, and I mean everybody around me and in front of me were dancing like their lives depended on it.  Couples dancing with each other, complete strangers high fiving.  It was amazing.  The encore was a giant dance party with the aisles filling and everybody having a blast.

I would have loved to hear Bermuda Highway, The Bear, and a few others.  But overall, there can't be any complaints about last night.  Just a great time all around.

And whoever the guy is that was in F2, row J, on the aisle (near me).....kudos to you, buddy.  You certainly get your money's worth.  Dancing up a storm and sweating bullets.  I had just as much fun watching you as I did the band.

It was St. James Infirmary

I know for fact that the sax player sang "I went down to the St James infirmary, saw my baby lyin there..." During the song AFTER Jim left the stage. For that reason I was thinking that he didn't sing SJI
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

It was pure bliss all night long. Interesting the 2 songs that were scratched... I mentioned to my wife right after the show that these were the 2 songs I felt would have made it a PERFECT set list. At least the band and I were thinking along the same lines even if it didn't happen.

Only complaint about the show was the a-hole security harassing people for dancing in the aisles and asking for our tickets all night long. WTH was that all about? Worst security hassle ever.

love the choices of covers in the encore... awesome. loved how set one was just awesome standard rockers and the encore was a dance party really.

Yup, that was awesome.

I talked to many folks about how PCx3 was a COMPLETELY different beast. The PC shows were filled with deep cuts, they were intimate, and seemed to be designed knowing tht so many people were going to be there that were insane fans. NYE was designed to be a party, for all fans alike. Both were amazing in their own right

Is anyone else acting like a total spaz today? Because I certainly am. Certifiable weirdo.  I'm having a dance party for one with these videos.

Wish I could've made it to Boston!  Looked like one hell of a party!!  I do have to say though that Night 3 in PC was quite the dance party as well... Especially with the loge bouncing on the first song alone!  I'm glad you all had a great show!  Happy New Year!
Pretty please with peanut butter pudding surprise on top??

Forgive me for thickness, but what does this mean?  I've seen the word "loge" used a couple times in the last few days and it's going over my head.
Babe, let's get one thing clear, there's much more stardust when you're near.

Northern Neighbour

Loge was the first 3 rows of the balcony.
