I'm curious to know what people think of this set who were not there but hear the recording.  The surprises of the setlists and the guests were definitely a part of what made it great, but I think it holds up pretty well on tape.

I don't know though if that opinion is colored by having been there in person for it.
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE!!!!

Through an amazing stroke of right place, right time, I ended up partying at the silent disco with Jim until 5am!!

Good luck comes from trying.

Michael Winslow (Police Academy sound effects guy) does the Star Spangled Banner. And yes, Jim and John got most of the vocal time, with the exception of Zig on "Hey Pocky Way", Bilal, who I'm pretty sure takes a couple verses during 'Move On Up' and Larry Graham, who leads most of the Sly songs.  Each guest also got a lead turn on their respective songs. However the backup vocalists also got a lot of non-guest vocal time, they're pretty easy to pick out.

WOW Roffers!!!  That is super amazing.

I have been lucky enough to attend all of the Jacket Bonnaroo performances, and several other "epics", including most of the Louisville and New Years shows, but this one ranked right up there with any I have seen.   The whole damn festival seemed really special this year (#8 for me), but that show was probably the icing on the cake for me.  I saw one amazing show after the other, but years from now it will certainly be the SuperJam that stands the test of time in my mind.

The recording is top notch quality, but seriously does not do it justice.   I feel so lucky to have been there for such a once-in-a-lifetime show.  Thank you Jim & Co.

This is a great set, but listening to it (especially already knowinig the surprises) can't come close to the real thing.   One example....I'm not a fan of Bang a Gong, but it would be easy to get wrapped up in it being there with Jim plaing guitar and getting an out of no where Billy Idol appearance.   Great call on not reading that Oates interview for those who attended.

While I'm familiar with some of the other singers and I'm sure they are super talented, I much prefer when Jim sings.   So for me the highlights were Use Me and Instant Karma far more than the others.  I would have dug it even more if Jim had more leads.

The audio is great so thanks to whomever recorded.  I'd like to check out some clips that walterfredo is referring to.

Hahaha that show was so much fun! Still giggling about it.

Obviously, to top ?uestlove & D'Angelo's superjam must have been a challenge - but Jim and gang clearly outdid themselves.  Who do you guys think will head the superjam next year? I mean, this show is now legendary, right?  You HAVE to atleast try to do better. You're not just going to let some wanker like...i dunno...Derek Truck lead the party.  But who has those kind of skillz.  That kind of diversity ?uest or Jim have?

Trey? Veder? Justin Vernon? Bring Les back? Wayne Coyne? Nah, Wayne would probably fuck it up. Haynes? Should they just have Umphrey's throw one of their all night all covers parties? Tweedy? maybe in the day time...Maybe do so British thing, like have Damon Alban do a British Invasion Super Jam?

Fuck...you're just not going to beat Jim James unless you give Trey the Which Stage at 12am and let him bring every musician at that festival on stage with him so they can reproduce a classic rock radio station....it just can't be done.

Wait. Nevermind. figured it out.  Patton & Maynard. The Maynard James Keenan and Mike Patton Rock Your Fuckin' Socks Off Super Jam.  That's it.  Sign em up!  :drum:

Serious thoughts though (or silly ones)?  Who you guys think will be a viable option?

God damn those shaky knees.
