Had a little time to absorb what transpired at the Metro last night.  And after reading some of the posts on this thread all I can say is that to me if felt as if time had stopped.  It didnt feel like 2 hours and 45 minutes at all...

How could anyone be standing there in that room last night think that a band that left every fucking part of them on stage has played for too long?  Crazy.

Here's hoping for 3 hours and 45 minutes at Melbourne!!

Off to the BDO soon.  LIfe is a dream at the moment!!!

I would love to hear the Cobra->Run Thru part.  Can anyone elaborate on how that went?  Did they do the three parts of Cobra that they usually do and then go right into the freak out portion of Run Thru?

dave, i've been trying to imagine that cobra --> run thru segue...my guess is that it would have gone from the outro of the third movement of the live ver. of cobra into the bass of run thru: doo-do-dooo-do-do-doo, etc.

then of course, the rest of the song was played as arranged for pennywhistle and recorder.

Fair enough...everyone's entitled to their opinion & all that but this dude is talking silly shit!

The Jacket know they won't be back for a while & want to give their fans in Oz the very best they can...& you're fucking complaining about the show being too long?!!

There I was thinking we might be lucky to get 1hr30mins or so for the headline shows in Oz/Japan, 2hrs if we're blessed but 2hrs45?!!

DB, this guy complaining about the show being too long is exactly right. So, as a favor to you, I am going to pray they play for 40 minutes (no encore, of course, shhheeeessh) when you see them in 2 weeks and that all the songs are 2:50 and they play songs that you are mostly unfamiliar with. It's what's best for you...

what a fabulous night of music at the metro thursday night,this was the first mmj gig i have been to and can't wait for the band to come back. I enjoyed the whole show,so tricky to pick out any particular moments.The band were tight and jim sounded fantastic,at the end 2 hours and 45 mins was not enough,i could have listened to them all night.I thought with the advertised 9.00 start i would be in for a earlier then expected night,how wrong could i have been.Would not have missed it for the world though.Please come back soon!

I was right up on the rail between Carl and Jim and lost my fucking mind! If anyone has any links to the audio or video that was captured at this show (I know Triple J was there filming) I would be extremely grateful!

I actually just found this lovely little tidbit with a wonderful intro from Jim. I couldn't agree with him more, it was a BLAST!

No, John it's an entire standalone show, and what you have there is just the highlight real from video that Triple J (Australian radio station) streamed/presented later in 2009. They were there all night taping and recording, and I read somewhere else on here that they def recorded the whole night, but weren't letting the entire cat out of the bag at the time... mostly due to the length of the show (nearly 3 hours)... I'm not sure what's happened since, but I have seen (possibly fake) dead links to audio of the entire show. I've love to nail down the whole thing!

I've sent them a pm on here since they have an account (though it hasn't really been active since they posted about the airing of the selections from this show back in '09), but it's worth a shot. Maybe if enough of us request its release we can make something happen?
