taking the rail...yac you know i'm apart of this...if you can handle the heat at the hangout from 1030am until showtime in one spot then the ATL in april is no problem at all...thought my 31st show wouldn't happen until 2014...nice surprise
Right???? Damn! Never felt heat like that before or since!

from AT&T's press release

As a NCAA Corporate Champion, AT&T continues to connect our fans with their interests and passions — fans of all ages will enjoy the music and the experience of the AT&T Block Party headlined by Zac Brown Band," said Jamie Kerr, Director, AT&T Corporate Sponsorships. "We have a number of fun and interactive activities planned throughout the week for fans in Atlanta and for those following the events online and via social media channels including a live stream of the concert on the AT&T Facebook page."
So stoked about this!!
anything + reverb always = better

I didn't believe this was true at first. Free MMJ concert? A mere MARTA train ride from my house? Yup. I'm there.
20 times I wish you'd understand...

Is there any chance I won't get in if I drive down there?
There's Still Time.........

Fully

I can't imagine that you wouldn't get in. They are expecting 150,000 people. I don't know if that's all three days or each day, but I think you are safe.

Bought my flight see you guys there.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

Also, ill be getting there rather early.... What should I do for like 4 hours? Record stores?

Little 5 Points would be a good place to kick around for a few hours prior to the show... Great record store @ Criminal Records, vintage retail, plenty of bars (ie: The Vortex and Porter Beer bar), really cool eclectic shopping, killer pizza @ Savage, classic ATL music venues, etc.)... it's a small neighborhood in ATL and all of these places are right next to each other. It's a colorful place with great people watching to say the least

L5P is only a couple of miles from the 5 points Marta exit (do NOT confuse the 5 points Marta stop with L5P). You'll be safe to walk at the hours that you will be there, but a cab will be easy and cheap at that time of day so I would recommend it.

If I were only in ATL for a few hours I would def be going to L5P. You can pack a lot in with easy on foot travel here and it's simply a cool borough. Enjoy!

One week from tomorrow we'll be in Atlanta. Thrilled to be seeing the band at least once this year. :cheesy: :cheesy:

just an fyi from an ATL resident...

Prepare ahead of time for ridiculous traffic all over the city....this event, the final four, Braves opening week and a Hawks game are all going down. It will be absurd.

The park has had concerts before but I think they are in over their heads with MMJ, ZBB and DMB. The place will be slammed and porta-potty lines will be a good 30+ min long. Book it.

Actually, NCAA event....they even sell booze?

e_wind

SEC is the only conference that doesnt sell alcohol at games

brink

There are plenty of NCAA events that do not sell booze....such as the Final Four...

...depends on the venue.

mcredder

Not sure about where this venue is located in relation to where the Final Four is played, but I was at the Final Four in Houston in 2011, and the concert was held at a downtown green area, a little bit a ways from the stadium where the games are played. Kings of Leon, Uncle Kracker, Sublime with some lead singer, and Kenny Chesney were the shows. It was horrendous to say the least, but they absolutely sold beer (I know because it was the only possible way to make it through this experience). They don't sell beer at the final four stadium because it's NCAA, but my bet is there is alcohol at the show.

That's entirely possible, but there was no alcohol sold at the Wells Fargo Center in Philly last weekend for the NCAA games. I can't speak to that first hand, but had some friends who went, and they has to do their boozin in the lots pre game because of it.
"Where's Jim going?"

Mahgeetah34

Alcohol at this show is gonna make the crowd just like the secret Jim show in Nashville times 100. Bunch of loud mouthed, uninterested people who are fiddling on their cell phones. The alcoholics for Zac Brown won't help the cause either. At least all of us true fans will be up front away from most nuisances.

Also, with all of the traffic stated and wanting to be front row, I'll probably have to leave Tennessee at 8am. :undecided:

davymac

I still can't believe this is happening. so pumped

Mahgeetah34

In regards to the setlist, especially a festival setlist, a few rarities aren't entirely out of the question

According to my brief research, Beale Street got The Way That He Sings and Phone Went West, Jazz Fest also got The Way That He Sings, Werchter got The Bear and full Run Thru, Hop Farm got Phone and Librarian, Newport got The Way and Bermuda Highway. Maybe if there's a song a song or two we'd all like to hear, a few twitter requests to the band will have them incorporate it into their set considering it may be their only concert until next spring.  :drum:

Me too, Davymac! It's good to get a show, even a short show is better than nothing.

Yeah I don't know of any NCAA sanctioned venue that allows alcohol. Penn State certainly doesn't and the handful of other Big 10 stadiums I've been to don't either. Also, back in the day a few friends of mine saw Metallica at the Horseshoe and guess what? The booze flowed like mud there too.
