Anyone know about taping at the JJ shows... will there be any change from the MMJ Policy?

I would just act like its an MMJ show...i'm sure Jim will have the same policy, they probably haven't even thought about it

I suspect Ryan Pickett will man the boards, so you should be fine.

Have any JJ show recordings surfaced yet?

We attempted to openly tape at Jim's Music Hall of Williamsburg show in Brooklyn on February 19th and got denied.  We have a good relationship with the venue and the house engineer and have recorded there many times, so I know it wasn't MHOW's decision.  The FOH actually went and asked JJ's management and was told that they weren't allowing it that night.  I did see Ryan at the board but couldn't get down to speak with him about specifics.  Our guess is that because it was more or less the "preview" tour and the band is still getting comfortable with the material.  No harm, no foul, but I hope they allow taping on the next leg of shows.  FWIW, the show was great!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but it looks like 9 songs from Jim at Sleep No More were released today...

Pretty cool. Thanks for the link.

I went to download this and they asked me for a credit card without even giving a price. WTF???

Oh well, no more free music for me until May 9.

Taping policies will be the same for JJ as MMJ shows, barring unforeseen circumstances or special venue considerations.  As Johnny said, Mr. Pickett will be out front, friendly as ever, on a good day anyhow ;-)

hola from Alaska....20+ year taper, who has never listened to MMJ on purpose (haha)

anyhow, 'bout to venture out on a 3 week taping trip, and have two of the JJ shows penciled into the itinerary (1 for sure, a 2nd if we enjoy the 1st one), but due to my naivety as to the 'scene' here...

1. what IS the overall taping policy for MMJ/JJ?  do's/don'ts???

2. are there any youtube links/live show samples to check out? (so I have a rough idea of what to expect)

3. should I get some good captures (which happens more often than not), I'm not really in a position to upload as of now, but I have plenty of xtra flash cards to mail the show(s) to if someone wants to...any recommendations as to someone here who is up for that type thang?

anyhow, thanks much for your time.

oh yeah, hagaralaska at gmail dot com, if anyone doesn't care to talk about it here...

Steve, as long as the venue doesn't cock-block you, I'd say your good to go.  Just check in at the soundboard, ask for Ryan Pickett, and he'll work with you.  I'd say send the show(s) to me, though I'm no taper, so if someone here with some experience is needed to process the show before upload, chime in.  Otherwise, hit me up here by PM or email me at johnnyyac@comcast.net when you're ready.

As far as live resources, you can check MMJ on archive.org here.

Other great tapings, including a Jim show from the maiden voyage of his tour in Louisville, just posted today, can be found at The Steam Engine.

Thanks, Mike.  The second one you posted is also on The Steam Engine in mp3 format, for folks who want to give Jason's blog a visit and don't care about FLAC.
