Holy crap.  Would be so excited to see "Don't Do It" in Irvine.

Also mmj joined wilco and covered the beatles within you without you

Nah it was tomorrow never knows. Unreal

johnnYYac

It was spectacular, whatever you call it.

How was Dylan?  I bailed and just got home...

I love how the set list above says Manchester instead of Mansfield haha. No offense to Dylan and Wilco but I wish Jacket just played the whole night, everything was a huge step down after them. Bob was tough to watch Johnny, just as I remembered from 2004, but there was this lightning storm passing right through during the first 6 or 7 songs that actually made the atmosphere with him really cool. Highlights for me were definitely The Dark, It Beats 4 U, Dondante and Don't Do It. The best (and longest) rendition of Dondante I've ever had the privilege of hearing them play. Don't Do It just blew me away, my favorite song by The Band and one of my favorite songs in general. If I'm not mistaken I don't think they've ever played that one before? It made for an unforgettable birthday, thank you!

Whoa, what a set! I had a feeling "Don't Do It" might work it's way into the rotation after the SuperJam. These sets just keep getting better as this tour rolls on.

too tired to give a review, but here's some basic vids i found this am from the two highlights of the show imo.

great hanging with ya, john. safe travels.

Amazing setlist. I'm sure slow slow tune into Dondante was amazing. I need more first hand accounTs of that combo! Did they break the music between songs or transition WO stopping?

Love the weird sets such as this one.  Off the record is always amazing and Don't Do It followed by magheeta to close. Impressive.

Dondante was epic and the likely reason they had to cut Off The Record. I love Slow Slow Tune and they nailed an extra-slow rendition. Only 10 songs plus end of Run Thru, but a most satisfying 75 minutes.

Didn't catch that OTR was cut. Thanks!  I attended two if these shows and was amazed at how satisfying these 75 minute sets have been.

I'm not really a fan of Wilco, I had to find out the name of this song from the guy sitting behind me, but the performance of Impossible Germany was awesome. Gotta give it up to them on that one, a highlight from the festival for sure.

yeah, this was my first real exposure to wilco. thought the end jam on germany was impressive. also liked via and art of almost. the rest would probably grow on me. i need to see a full show.

now that i've had some sleep.......

jacket......

for whatever reason i had read the darien setlist as having a the dark opener so i was completely blindsided by it. the first light was one of the better versions i've seen. really tight. hit all the marks and worked really well. circuital is circuital....but it was nice seeing it in a diff spot. it beats is always a fav for me. slow slow was well played, but i think it's a tough tune for a festie list. in the midst of a longer show i think it works really well, but with a short set.....not so much imo. i kinda called the dante and was pumped to see it. def surprised they stretched it out as much as they did. long intro and then the nice spacy jam at the end. when vd started up i figured it was the beginning of the end since it has generally marked the first of the last 3 tunes on this tour. at that point i was thinking the setlist was gonna turn out fairly vanilla (no deep cuts/no sit-ins) end of run through could have been better imo if they transitioned into it, but the hard end to vd and hard start of run thru was awkward. wordless....thinking "ok one more tune. maybe a gideon and they're out."......but noooooooo........DON'T DO IT! they absolutely killed it. by far my fav band tune and they just fucking nailed it. so good. figured that was it.......but nooooooo....geetah to close. didn't see that coming either. show ended and i had a huge smile on my face.

the tnk w/ wilco was really impressive as well. i know we could see jim and carl out there. patrick was standing on the side of the riser playing some sort of percussion. seemed like one or two others were out there but couldn't tell. think john mentioned he could see bo. the tune itself is so layered that having that many people on stage worked really well. it sounded huge, full and loud. loved it.

dylan?    *sigh*
i left during tangled up.
first three songs he's just standing on stage like sinatra. playing nothing. too much new material that i think is fairly boring to begin with.  hadn't seen him since '87 and doubt i'll see him again.

had a blast hanging out with yac as usual. gonna miss my fellow nh jacket fanatic. met a bunch of other boardies and it was great to put some faces to names. hope to see you all at some shows in the future.
Oh shit, run!
