Whilst mowing the yard and listening to "sleep no more" (live at the mckittrick hotel), a great recording BTW, I noticed the dynamics and overall effect on Jim's voice changes a lot from one song to the next and often even within different segments of the same song. The one thing I like about ROL the album is something I didn't realize until hearing these songs stretched out live. The songs really have no boundaries from one to another and to me it sounds like that main set they play is just one big song changing ever so gently from one extreme to the next.

I've always believed that Jim should have his own sound guy just for his vocal mixing, and that it would be a plus if that guy was up on the stage.  Bo does a great job triggering recorded samples and providing that sonic texture behind Jim's voice, but it sounds like k. ratterman is dialing it in perfect. This is pure speculation, but given his studio involvement w Jim, I'm betting he has a lot to do with the knobs and switches in front of Jim's voice and I like it.

This no offense intended towards r. Pickett the MMJ FOH engineer or Bo the electro synth wizard

Just to be clear. kevin was involved in the making of "Regions" the studio album but has nothing to do with how Jim's actual live vocal sounds or is mixed live. However, Kevin does trigger pre recorded Jim backing parts from the album. The MicKittrick Hotel show was mixed entirely by Ryan live and in post. Thx
