Anyplace they want to do a NYE show is fine by me.  Just make sure there's an annual Port  Chester run preceding it.     I'd love for them to do an annual residency at The Cap similar to what the Allman's do with the Beacon every March. Doesn't have to be as many shows as the Allman's, but maybe add one more this year, and keep adding each year as demand increases.

Any idea if they intend to do a 3 night run there again this year eric?   I feel like you've always had solid info on here.  Patrick seemed pretty high on playing at the Cap immediately after so my intitial thought was that they would want to get back there ASAP.....but I am probably just being overly optimistic.

STAY TUNED!!
What's in here won't disappear

Sorry, I had to include Red Rocks as the midwest for arguments sake. I can see the band doing a new years show in New Orleans rather than Nashville or similar. Mainly due to them always collaborating with Preservation Hall. I didn't become an MMJ fan until about September of 2010 so if they did any special shows in the south then I clearly missed out

20 miles east of Red Rocks is where Colorado is starts impersonating Kansas, so maybe in that respect the analogy isn't that bad.

while i wasn't a fan of agganis either, it seemed pretty normal when compared to other shitty boston/ma venues like boa and mansfiled. same alcohol issues. same staff issues. different, but equally shitty sound. if they come back to boston they need to play at the wang.

regardless, i'd be shocked if they did back to back years of nye shows.
Oh shit, run!

Let me chime in on how awful the Boston NYE venue was. Please never play there again. Agannis arena had the slowest beer lines and they would only let you get one beer at a time, so you couldn't take one back for your buddy. Plus, they did a terrible job keeping people from coming into your section whose seats weren't there. Then you had really drunk people who kept crowding up all over you. Might as well have been GA for all the fighting and wresting we had to do to keep our spots.
I agree, Fully. The beer lines were terrible, Agannis should be embarrassed that it took so long to get ONE SINGLE BEER. No exaggeration, I could have bought a beer, immediately got back in line, and by the time I would have been to the front of the line again I could have finished my beer. I didn't do this though, I nursed the thing. And yes, the sound was not the greatest, especially after seeing them in PC. All in all though the show was really, really fun for me. Too bad about that beer situation though.

The west got their special run at The Wiltern, I'm gonna count Red Rocks as midwest, and the northeast got Port Chester AND new years eve. It's time the south gets its new years show and/or three night run with no repeats.

If they do this, I suggest ACL Live in Austin or The Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans.

But I don't really see either happening.

Since I live in Austin I will agree wholeheartedly about this. Also, after just seeing Jim do his show at the new ACL Live (Moody Theater), I agree it would be an awesome and very intimate NYE show.
