Wilcos set was pretty standard, if any one cares. Well, except cinnamon of course
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

Still picking my face up off the floor...fuckin' Tuscaloosa

scosby2

Jim is playing Hell now on the electric Gretsch...totally threw me off

I'm truly blown away.  That has to be the best setlist yet.  Although all have been incredible.  But the 5 song run from Evil Urges > I think I'm going to Hell has to be one of the best I've seen.  The bear and hell are such rarities, and especially hell is such a magical damn song.  Congrats to all who made it to Tuscaloosa.

And then when you think it's reached the pinnacle.....CINNAMON GIRL.  Like really?Q?!?  CINNAMON GIRL???  Neil was my first love and i've tweeted at them a few times inquiring about whether or not they'll ever cover Neil and sure enough, they finally did.  That was so fucking spot on too.  It was truly note for note and the harmonies sounded like fucking Neil and Danny Whitten.  Unreal.

This band continues to create magical moment after another.  It's amazing on so many levels.  And the fact they aim to bring it every night like this is just a testament to how much they love playing and playing for fans.  It's like they want every mother f'er that comes to their show to leave like it was the best they've ever seen.  Thank you guys.  Flying to Europe tomorrow and you know what will be on the tunes.  Perhaps I'll watch the netherlands doc in the airpot.
As long as my heart's beating, that's all the proof you need....

Wilco covered CG at solid sound and was perfect.. looks like it was even better with the jacket joining in. now I'm impressed with this tour.

Angelo

And there it is. MMJ and Wilco together onstage. Unfuckingreal!!!

I really love how the most interesting parts of this tour have been the "opening acts". Well, except for Dylan unfriending his former guitarist on Facebook. Last night as we were leaving after Wilco's set, we saw quite a few people just getting to the venue and I thought to myself -you people missed the best part of the night." They probably couldn't have appreciated what we saw though.

You're probably right. They wouldn't have appreciated it. This kind of reminds me of the Essex Jct. VT. show in 10. After Grace Potter's set I was taking our poster tubes to Bob and Trish's truck, and on my way back there were droves of people leaving. Needless to say I was stunned, and finally said WHERE ARE YOU GUYS GOING? YOU'RE LEAVING BEFORE MMJ?  Their answer was they saw who they came to see. I was stunned, and thought you silly bastards, you don't have any idea what you're missing. I felt like Gene Hackman in the Poseiden Adventure screaming, "you're going the wrong way"! Dumb fools.

Looks like you guys got a hell of an evening of music tonight, with MMJ's set just being stellar,IMO. I echo Jeff's post about getting more, and more psyched for our upcoming shows, and being a tad jealous but certainly happy for you all seeing these  first few shows.
"Where's Jim going?"

I want to take this post and this setlist behind the middle school and impregnate it

Oh, I guess it's now worth noting that the music playing before the Atlanta show was Neil Young. At the time, I might've been able to tell you what album, but after the blister of that show and a few days, it has swirled down the drain of my good memories tub.

i hear ya.
gotta say though........
i've seen a number of shows through the years where the place was close to empty and i've seen artists go both ways. some mail it in and get all pissy and some trooper through like professionals.
the only time i saw jacket play to a sparse crowd was in burlington '10 and they not only powered through, but they seemed to embrace the small crowd and treat it as a special moment. i had never witnessed that before and it just confirmed to me that this band was indeed something special.

Oh shit, run!

Well said Nuggets. I was at that show also, as well as the St. Augustine  one in the spring.  I too was blown away by how these guys embraced both small crowds, and rocked the hell out of both shows.

No question they confirmed how great and special a band they are.  I can honestly say I've never seen them mail it in, and doubt we ever will. I don't think it's in their DNA. They hit the stage, and it's all out, empty the tank for as many or few people there. Look no further than last year's " under the overpass" Soundcheck at Forecastle. They could've canceled or mailed that in, but instead gave those of us there a thrill we'll never forget.
"Where's Jim going?"

They definitely didn't phone this show in, but you could tell they appreciated their fans who were standing and rocking out with them. By the end of the show, the majority of the crowd down front got up.what was strange to me was all the older people who bought front row seats who sat the entire set. How often does a band have the front rows refuse to stand? There was one younger guy there in a Spon curation tour shirt and even he sat down. He probably felt weird being the only stander in front.
