I didn't mind her too much.  One part that was kinda cool from the philly show was that she did The Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song

I must have nodded off because I didn't even pick up on that and we were not talking much during her set, we were trying to be respectful and pay attention...  I agree with Eric, warm up acts should get the crowd going, not settle them down.  The band has an easy gig as most of the set they are kneeling waiting to play their part, especially felt bad for the dude in the Gandalf hat having to be in the front of the stage with limited action.  As I stated in the Philly thread that I would have rather seen the choir that they were playing between sets.  I could see her band being a better opener for Ray Lamontagne or Michael Kiwanuka.  Just my two cents...

agreed--she has a really good voice, she just needs songs...and a band...

i didn't pick up on the fresh prince song until halfway through..
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

I was in the bathroom. The only part of her performance that would have entertained me and I was in the bathroom.

I thought they were fantastic, and except for Sharon Jones, were the best MMJ-related opener I've ever seen (Wax Fang, Everest & Shabazz Palaces all stunk).  I bought their album after the show and would see them again.

As said before, she has a great voice. The issue I have isn't even that she doesn't have great stage presence, it's in the songs. Every single tune is low tempo with no variation.

They would eventually "build up" the song, but even towards the end, they only added more instruments, never changing tempo. If she could mix in just a mid tempo, or god forbid a high tempo song here and there, their show would be much better.
Mona Lisa must'a had the highway blues, you can tell by the way she smiles.
