Completely agree that this is a wonderful alternative to Roo. In fact, I'm pretty sure between Roo and Forecastle, I'm guaranteed one mega-pleasing festival every summer. Have a fun alternating thing going on the last few years!

Does anyone recall what time MMJ played in 2012? I can't seem to find a schedule anywhere, and I'm trying to gauge what kinda sets the headliners will be playing this years. I recall they ended around midnight Saturday. Did they start before 10?

robb

if i remember right they were supposed to, but things got pushed back by that huge rain storm.
some get stoned, some get strange, sooner or later it all gets real.

Last two years have been delayed because of rain. MMJ was set to play 9:00 to 11:30 I believe. The keys played 1.5 hours. Most headliners get 1.5 to 2 hours.

I wonder if they will have another forecastle incident thing this year?
I wonder why we listen to poets when nobody gives a fuck

What was the Forecastle Incident? I assumed it was similar to a Roo superjam

Andrew Bird's set lasted for five hours, so that kind of pushed things back a bit too.
"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

I'd love another sort of "incident" or Superjam. I'm also reeeeeeally wondering what these late-nights are going to look like. I'd pay BIG bucks for a Dap Kings Super Soul after show.

I'm guessing there will be three.  One on Friday and two on Saturday (a bigger event and the Belle of Louisville).

Oh God. PTSD flashbacks beginning now. If he had just been more interesting and played about 20 less songs. I'll never forgive him, and I do like some of his songs.

I really  like Andrew Bird too, but that day I learned that I never have to go out of my way to see him, ever.

Who was he going up against?  Anyone happen to remember?  I missed the Birdman but I can't remember who I chose to watch instead.  I'm thinking maybe Wax Fang or the Fruitbats?  Or maybe I was just chillin' by the pool throwing back some Oberons...

WARNING - If there any forum members around me during the Outkast set, I urge you to take caution. I'll be grooving like a madman, and possibly screaming and crying like a 9-year old at a One Direction show.

I wasn't expecting Ticketbastard handling tix, and found it confusing determining where the weekend passes were.  Wasted 3 minutes figuring it out, fucking HATE those capcha security games, but managed the 1st tier price just before they sold out and moved to tier 2.

I just don't understand why you wouldn't want to have a MMJ fest.  They represent what Louisville is and everyone in Louisville wants to see the Jacket.  Not to mention they had a huge hand in getting Forecastle to where it is.   If you look at the comments on Forecastle's facebook there are comments from so many people begging and pleading.  Oh well... In a perfect world somebody would have an MMJ fest.

This comment is just 100% ignorant. My Morning Jacket does not represent the Louisville music scene in any way shape or form, other than the fact that they're famous and from Louisville. If you wanna see a band that represents the Louisville music scene, go see Slint at Forecastle, and be thankful you get to see that. My Morning Jacket did not play a huge hand in getting Forecastle to where it is. JK McKnight played a huge role in getting Forecastle to where it is, via a decade of hard work and dedication, which he payed back ten-fold with blood, sweat, tears, not to mention all of his money. I'm offended for him by your comment, and I don't even know the guy.
