BTW if you haven't heard of this band, I highly recommend you make the effort to see them:

JJ Grey & Mofro "Brighter Days"

I have seen JJ & Mofro before and they are one of my favorite bands.  Hands down one of the tightest bands I've seen.  Horn section is unbelievable.

Good thing Spanish Gold is at Forecastle.  The rest of the tour so far seems to be out west.

I'm going to the festival this year, but it really pisses me off that this will be the 2nd year in a row that a MMJ artist is at Forecastle without the rest of the band.  So fucking cheesy.

As much as I would love for MMJ to be there, I completely understand why they aren't.  Forecastle doesn't want to turn themselves into MMJ fest.  They were there in 2012.  However, they are due for a return in 2015.  Honestly, I would be okay with them being a guaranteed late night show every year.  That way they don't restrict other headlining spots, but people who want to see them still can.

I just don't understand why you wouldn't want to have a MMJ fest.  They represent what Louisville is and everyone in Louisville wants to see the Jacket.  Not to mention they had a huge hand in getting Forecastle to where it is.   If you look at the comments on Forecastle's facebook there are comments from so many people begging and pleading.  Oh well... In a perfect world somebody would have an MMJ fest.

I agree completely.  I would love for Forecastle to be MMJ fest, but I also understand them wanting to be their own thing.

you really couldnt be any further from the truth.  MMJ had nothing to do with forecastle being where it is.  theyve only played once, and it was already a good sized and established festival before that.  just because we love MMJ does not mean everyone does. although jk is a big fan of the band, why would he want to take his baby (forecastle) and turn it into something for someone else (MMJ)?  he did allright efore them and is doing all right after them.  i have been following jacket as long or longer than most people here and i dont want them to play every year or even every other year.  for one thing, it eliminates the chance of a proper hometown full length show.  for another, forecastle is about being a small to medium sized eclectic festival, that changes its musical landscape like we change shirts, not being MMJfest.
out go the lights it begins

At least we're getting SOME form of MMJ-related content. I couldn't be happier that it comes in the form of Spanish Gold, as they seem to be doing dates that are rather limited geographically. I also wouldn't be surprised if we saw one or two of the guys just attending the fest as a fan! One thing I loved about Forecastle was how much artists seemed to be enjoying themselves. Walking around with the common folk, drinkin' beer, just havin' a good time! Don't get that at many other fests.

ONE BIG HOLIDAY FAMILY GOES TO FORECASTLE FESTIVAL 2014

The incredible musical experience we shared in Riviera Maya brought us together...let's keep the love we found alive by reuniting for more great music! While the amazing sounds of My Morning Jacket will not fill our ears that weekend, Patrick will be taking the stage with Spanish Gold. As a Louisville native, I can assure warm hospitality and a beautiful scene awaits. What more do we need?

Hope to see you there!!

Thanks for the link to the forecastle site. If you haven't looked we have a thread where we have been discussing Forecastle for months. If you would like to add to the discussion it is located here: http://forum.mymorningjacket.com/index.php?topic=18244

Of course this is different than your Facebook group and I'm not trying to take away from that, just wanted to let you know that we have a lively discussion here too. Of course the good thing about secret FB groups are that one has privacy to discuss matters that people may not want to make public knowledge.

Thanks for your reply! I saw after I completed my post that there is a thread going on Forecastle, but thought a post specific to bringing OBH folks back together may be worthy of a separate discussion.

Also, please note that the Facebook page is public so anyone is free to view, post, join, etc.!

So you are saying that if I post on there my FB friends will see what I say? Thanks for letting me know.

The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

How about a T5, RR 11, RR12, PC, NYE, and OBH reunion at Forecastle? Or is that askin too much?
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

I have to say that I am really looking forward to this lineup this year. Foreskin is small enough that it's doable and not the marathon that Bonnaroo is (even though I love roo). And there are more bands that I'd like to see than not on the bill. They've done a great job providing an alternative to roo.
