Mid-year, okay. Also limiting this to 10, in alphabetical order:

The Asteroid #4 - The Asteroid #4
Bombay Bicycle Club - So Long, See You Tomorrow
Colourmusic - May You Marry Rich
I Break Horses - Chairoscuro
Damien Jurado - Brothers and Sisters
New Madrid - Sunswimmer
Smoke Fairies - Smoke Fairies
The War on Drugs - Lost in the Dream
Water Liars - Water Liars
Wax Fang - Astronaut

Need to check them out.  Guy at record store FL was talking about how great they are.  No they are on your list.

I was a little quick this morning, because if I hadn't taken so long to get around to listening to this Mimicking Birds record, it would have been on my mid-year list for sure.
"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

Murph

In no particular order besides WOD being my hands down favorite album of the year:

1. War On Drugs - Lost in the Dream
2. St. Vincent - s/t
3. Beck - Morning Phase
4. Strand of Oaks - Heal
5. Water Liars - s/t
6. Ought - More Than Any Other Day
7. Chad VanGaalen - Shrink Dust
8. Damien Jurado - Brothers and Sisters of the Eternal Son
9. Posse - Soft Opening
10. Perfect Pussy - Say Yes To Love

I could have added a bunch more, but had to stop somewhere. Another great year for music so far...

I've been singing the Water Liars' praises for a little while now and it's great that others on the forum here are giving them a chance. They are easily my favorite newer band at the moment and I can only hope their next release is as good as everything else they've done. These guys are the real deal and I haven't listened to music that moves me like this in a long long time.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers-Hypnotic Eye definitely deserves a spot as Album of The Year.  There is absolutely NO filler on it!  Every track is awesome.  :drum:

I really like Spoon's new one.
Sometimes when I get in my zone, you'd think I was stoned, but I never as they say, touched the stuf

LOVE the new Reigning Sound.  It's got that timeless quality that ensures I'll be listening to it for years to come.
Don't you ever turn it off

Come Closer

^ I listened to it again this morning. Great album. Wasn't really familiar with them before this. What album should I check out next?

parkervb

to be honest, I have heard a few tracks from Too Much Guitar, but not really familiar with their catalog.  My friend really digs them and burnt me a CD this weekend.

Don't you ever turn it off

Spoon - They Want My Soul.

Spoon has always been a band that I knew of and liked a bunch of their songs, but never fully got into. This album may change that though, its really great.

Nice!  This band deserves more recognition.  I met them after a gig in NY, bunch of really cool and down to earth guys.
