Glad this recording is making its way around! What a treasure.

3RDEYEGIRL are sooooooo damn heavy. I'd kill to see 'em again. And again and again!

A sad state of affairs...

Great Guitar player  RIP Prince

The shock is palpable. There are a select few who come to this Earth and stay original...like they never stopped speaking the language of the motherland. If you ever get a chance to watch Prince play "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at a George Harrison tribute, it says it all. Looking at Dhani Harrison's face while Prince just shreds his father's song. He was the one who true musicians bowed to as the greatest.  Prince made it a point to mentor and play with women, not as a novelty, but because he knew the righteousness of our intuition. He was defined by no one. No one could understand him, much less master him. In his enigmatic presence, lay his power. This is a goddamn heartbreaking loss. https://youtu.be/4UkSIcm_y7Y

wow, those Tavis Smiley interviews are really good.  Would love to hear his and Cornell West's conversations that he references in this one:

What a loss.
Don't you ever turn it off

This is While My Guitar Gently Weeps from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Prince stealing the show.  Unreal guitar solo.  Watch until the end when he exits the stage knowing that he just dominated.

JJ posted a nice tribute which you can see from his twitter or instagram.

Roll call tix for last summer's MMJ Atlanta shows went on sale at the exact same time as Prince's shows at the Louisville Palace. My friends were counting on me to score good seats in Atlanta. I had to break it to them.......Prince was my top priority. As much as I love MMJ, this was Prince we're talking about, the baddest mf'er on the planet.

Thankfully, I ended up with great seats for both. So glad I got to see him one last time. Still can't believe it.

I have said many times today how glad I am that I got to see him last year at The Palace.
We worked hard to get those tickets!! Worth it!!

It was the only time I ever saw him and it was incredible.

really sad here today. :(

RIP Prince
To the baddest MUTHAFUCKA to pick up a guitar or almost any instrument....
Saw him 6 times in 3 days in Chicago 3 shows and 3 after party club shows.
An Amazing, exhausting, musical 3 days I'll never forget!
NO ONE"Could Ever Take The Place of That Man!!!"
Them that don't know him won't like him and them that do, sometimes won't know how to take him

I'm crushed... My greatest musical regret will now always be that I never had the chance to see Prince live.

RIP The Purple One

"Can you make it rain harder?"

The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Johnny Yac...I watched that just prior to your post, and was just floored. Talk about a goddamn champion. Who not only accepts a challenge, but throws down harder than anyone could imagine.

I saw this tribute to Prince by the cast of the Color Purple, including Jennifer Hudson, this morning. Jesus Christ it made me cry. Here is the link:

What Prince songs has MMJ covered besides I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man?
"Some like their water shallow, I like mine deep"

There's a video floating around from some James Brown show. He pulls Michael Jackson on stage, and then brings Prince on stage.  JB, MJ, and Prince back to back to back... Doesn't seem plausible, but it's out there.  Needless to say, Prince is the one your left thinking about when it's all over.

Bruce opened his show in Brooklyn last night with this very well done cover of Purple Rain.

Parker...I've wanted to see Dick Gregory live for a while...Brother West is one of the finest American intellectual S alive today. His books "Race Matters" and "Democracy Matters" are two of the finest examples of the tradition of prophetic wisdom in Black American theology/sociology. He is the closest legacy to the revolutionaries of yore.

Eric...thanks forposting Bruce. I'm almost nervously excited to watch it...
