There are a few songs I'm hoping to hear in Cancun. Seeing as in how they didn't play these last year, the chances are good.
1. Sec Walkin'
2. Librarian
3. Just one thing
4. It makes no difference (The Band cover)
5. Ophelia ( The Band cover)
They absolutely kill The Band covers!! Anybody have any additions???

Tonight I Want to celebrate with You
Beginning of Run Thru
I will be there when you die

And not for nothing, I'd like at least 4 or 5 new songs in exchange for deleting the whole Careless Banana Casbah waste of time....
What's in here won't disappear

On a related note, do we know what songs/cover songs MMJ has performed with the other OBH bands in the past? I know the Band of Horses guy has sat in on Wonderful and Isn't it a Pity, and Jim has sat in with War on Drugs for Mind Games.  Anyone know what history if any Dr. Dog and MMJ have from when they toured?

I'm operating under the assumption that since last year saw Bob Weir's presence dictate a number of the covers they played, that we can expect something similar this year if any of the bands have a history of playing songs together.

Stevie

Yes, I think you are definitely on to something.

My gut tells me that since BOH got TWO sets (they should have just given them the one acoustic set, that should actually be pretty good), we will see more than one sit in from Ben.

With such a vast assortment of musicians to utilize, and with the last real MMJ show being OBH1, i'm sure they are going to mix things up quite a bit.  Adding in the potential for new album material, this may be one of the smallest ratios of mmj songs(sans new stuff) to overall songs in the history of their shows.  To clear up what i mean by this, we could see/hear very little established and original MMJ material compared to what we are used to.

While I am sure it is fun for them to cook up their idea of the perfect setlist, i don't envy their position of having to try and make a couple thousand people who paid good money happy.  In situations like this, i think we just have to resign ourselves to the idea of: if they think it's great, and it makes them happy and excited to be playing, good enough.  We're going to be in Mexico in Jan/Feb.  Save the setlist seriousness for the real tours.  If that means more ba-ba-bananas...nanas, i'm okay with that.

Anyway, for those of you who are more familiar with these other bands and their past collaborations with MMJ, please chime in!

I know Jim James sat in with Dawes and covered Leon on me (Bill Withers) obviously the War on Drugs have had a few collaborations. Think about this though...I know beating a dead horse...but MMJ with the PHJB on horns covering Ophelia by The Band. That would be sick nasty.
