Yeah its insane. I just payed attention to Mortal Man for the first time and it definitely induced some insane chills
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

May not be everybody's cup of tea, but if you'd be willing to give some piano ballads with good songwriting a chance, Tobias Jesso Jr.'s "Goon" is a pretty good debut. Maybe should've shaved a couple songs, but I love it.

And yeah, Kendrick is the man. That album is downright vicious.

Come Closer

Goon has been in rotation for me the last few days, definitely digging it. Also

Wand- Golem
Buxton- Half A Native
Lucern Raze- Stockholm One
HOLY- Stabs

Come Closer

Listened to the Buxton album again tonight...definitely the most MMJish album I've heard this year.

"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

Ob1jacobe

New Alabama Shakes is soooo good.  Really impressed with how much they grew as a band and how the were not afraid to push the envelope on this one.  It far exceeded my expectations.

my current top 10

Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear
Alabama Shakes - Sound & Color
Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Laurel
Courtney Barnett - Sometimes I Sit and Think ...
Lady Lamb - After
Ryley Walker - Primrose Green
Belle and Sebastian - Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance
Sleater-Kinney - No Cities To Love
Viet Cong - Viet Cong
Lower Dens - Escape From Evil

Can't wait for MMJ and Blur.

Horace Hucker

The Built to Spill did not disappoint. Martsch is a god of gods.

Haven't previously been a fan of Alabama Shakes, but I'm going to give the new one a try cause the reviews have made it sound like such a step forward.

Angelo

I liked what I heard off that Moon Duo, Crispy. I want to take a deeper dive.

i think i'm ready to take a stab at this. i always get way more stressed out than is really necessary trying to rank!

1. Ryley Walker - Primrose Green
2. José González - Vestiges & Claws
3. Calexico - Edge of the Sun
4. My Morning Jacket - The Waterfall
5. Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear

slight disappointments: The Amazing, Howlin Rain, Sufjan (keep waiting for this to "hit" me?), The Tallest Man on Earth, Justin Townes Earle

major disappointment: Vetiver - makes me very sad too

better than it had any right to be:  Swervedriver

some killer world musics:  Tal National, Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba

not quite enough listens to for ranking just yet:  Blur, Built To Spill, Lord Huron

best new-to-me in 2015:  Weed - Running Back (if you're a mid-90's indie kid like me, check this out)

and finally, both of these would probably be #1 & #2 respectively if i counted such albums:  Phosphorescent - Live at the Music Hall and Iron & Wine - Archives Vol. 1
