The curious thing about the tour is the first two stops.  No openers.  I did some further digging and the Georgia Theater website says that the show starts at 9pm and then in parenthesis says (Ends at 2:00am).  The Knoxville show says, "An Evening with MMJ," while no other shows are stated this way.  So, either errors have been made somewhere along the line or they are still nailing down some uncertainties.  I guess we'll see.

Jason Isbell is the MPP opener.

Yeah!!! My wife asked me last night if I could pick one show to travel for what would it be. I didn't hesitate to say MERRIWEATHER!!!! I haven't been there since I was 15yo seeing the Grateful Dead. And Jason Isbell!!! I'm so glad he's clearly made amends with Jacket (after his dig on them and North Face for the This Land is Your Land release). He quickly owned his mistake of his criticism. I respect that.

Nice catch.   I guarantee they have something special planned for that.    Maybe playing new album front to back and another huge epic set after that??
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Anybody familiar with Hippo Campus?    I might have to travel to a Floating Action show if I can figure it out....

For the first 30 years of my life I lived in Baltimore and went to all my first shows at Merriweather. I was so tempted to buy plane tickets and go home for this show...but I talked myself out of it. Have seen Jason a lot in the last few years, and will be seeing MMJ at Forecastle (hopefully twice :) ) so I decided not to spend the $$ to travel to more shows this year...

Hippo Campus is blowing up here in Minneapolis/St. Paul. They just signed with Grand Jury. I've seen them three times now and they deliver each time.

Thanks, I gave them a youtube tour and they remind me a bit of Vampire Weekend.   They look young.   Interested in seeing how it translates live for sure.

They sound heavier live, and very polished given their age (19/20).
