I recently saw the Decemberists at Northrup and can confirm that no drinks of any type were allowed in the theater.  There were alcoholic drinks available in the lobby, but there were long lines.  The Northrup is on the Univ of MN campus so they are pretty strict about the alcohol policy.  That being said, there are TONS of bars and restaurants near the Nothrup since it is a college area.

The theater has great acoustics, but the seating is a little weird. There are three and maybe even four tiers of balconies.  I think it would be an odd experience to watch a concert from one of the higher balconies.  Hopefully you all have floor seats, if not you might want to try to upgrade.  The theater is relatively small, but tall.

Someone earlier asked about walking and safety.  Minneapolis is a very safe city.

Perhaps we can find a spot to have a drink either before or after the shows to meet up.

Closest bars are probably Stub and Herbs in Stadium Village or Blarney Stone or Library in Dinkytown. Both about a 10 minute walk from venue.

I still can't believe Sally's is gone!

Any place MN locals like yourself or MMJ612 want to recommend for pre and post show meetings would be welcome.  And if there are any area must dos during the afternoon, feel free to recommend as well.

My Saturday plans are open too. Wish the twins were in town.

We will be in town for both shows and are interested in having some pre/post show drinks.  Still not sure where we are planning to stay, but would like to stay close to some walkable attractions.

Mpls is a great place to be in the summer. I highly recommend checking out Minnehaha Falls on Saturday afternoon and walking down the path to the Mississippi. There is also an amazing restaurant by the Falls called Sea Salt. I am happy to meet up with folks and play tour guide if people are interested and I will post some more options as we get closer.

I recommend the Loring Pasta for dinner before the shows, it's a very short walk from the theater. Annie's Parlor is also good and has outdoor seating and is cheaper than Loring. There is also a Five Guys Burgers, which I love.  Special note about the Loring: Bob Dylan used to live in the apartment above the Loring- true story.

For drinks within walking distance I recommend The Blarney, Kitty Kat Club, or Stub and Herbs. As we get closer, I can give more specifics as for a time and place to meet up before/after the shows for those interested.

I can't wait
