With the release of Earl Sweatshirt's album this week, "I don't like Shit... I don't go outside: an album by Earl Sweatshirt" (which is hilariously awesome!), got me thinking of great album titles.

A few I love:
Beatles - the white album (simple and perfect)
Modest Mouse - Good news for people who love bad news
My Morning Jacket - Okonokos

Hairway To Steven by Butthole Surfers
Bandwagonesque by Teenage Fanclub
How To Grow A Woman From The Ground by Chris Thile
New Adventures in Hi-Fi by R.E.M.
Regions Of Light And Sound Of God by you know who, natch
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Totally random few off the top of my head, and on the quick:

We're Only In It For The Money - Frank Zappa & The Mothers (also one of the greatest album covers of all time)
Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar - Frank Zappa
Shiek Yerbouti - Frank Zappa
The Who Sell Out - The Who
Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy - The Who
Abraxis - Santana
Are You Experienced? - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Marquee Moon - Television
A Love Supreme - John Coltrane
A Tribute To Jack Johnson - Miles Davis
The Shape of Punk To Come - The Refused
Welcome To The Infant Freebase - The Soundtrack Of Our Lives

Beatles - the white album (simple and perfect)

Technically incorrect: That double-album is officially called The Beatles. It was never labelled The White Album.

My all time favorite album name is also a Modest Mouse album but it's:

This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

It's similar to The Beatles' two greatest hits records: Red and Blue. Those were just fan labels.

A couple more great titles, and albums too:

Maggot Brain - Funkadelic
Kick Out The Jams - The MC5
Never Mind The Bullocks - The Sex Pistols

No I get what you mean. I guess it's just classically referred to as that. I automatically go to call it that. Same with Weezer's Blue Album.

Couple others:

Nine inch nails - pretty hate machine
Flaming lips - clouds taste metallic (or choose one/ kinda of like modest mouse... All theirs are good)

I love Maggot Brain, but I put these two Funkadelic gems ahead:

Standing on the Verge of Getting It On

Free Your Mind... and Your Ass Will Follow
Don't you ever turn it off

Now Here is Nowhere - Secret Machines
It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back - Public Enemy
Q: Are We Not Men? A: We are Devo! - Devo
Don't you ever turn it off

Standing On The Verge is more funk than psychedelic, so I don't like it as much as Maggot Brain (it doesn't hit as hard); plus, nothing, almost in guitar rock history, beats Maggot Brain's title track.

Free Your Mind is arguably as good. Certainly rivals Maggot. Eddie Hazel is better on Maggot Brain, so the latter gets the nod from me.

oh, I can agree with that. I just think the titles are better. You ever check out the pro shot video of a Parliament-Funkadelic show from 1978?  It doesn't get much better than that Red Hot Mama

I gotcha. I think I've seen some of that show. Great stuff. I must throw out there that Maggot Brain is one of the great album covers of all time.

As obvious as that is to me now, I actually never knew that. Thanks for the enlightenment.

My two favorite album titles of all time are:

Ministry - The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste
Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Frozen Corpse Stuffed with Dope
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.
