Roll Call - Amsterdam

This was seriously one of my favorite MMJ shows of the roughly 45 that I've seen since 2004. Also it was my favorite by far of the 8 Waterfall tour shows I've seen.

You could tell right from the opening moments of Heartbreakin' Man that they were out to deliver something special.  London was great, but Amsterdam was on a whole different realm in my opinion.

Also huge admiration and respect for the crowd at the Paradiso.  So much energy and love going to the band, and then people got dead silent for Hopefully.  In the US, I don't think the crowd would have been nearly that quiet for that song.  It was like the band just pummeled everyone into submission with the massive Phone they just delivered, and everyone was just ready to go wherever the band wanted to take them after that, and Hopefully was delivered to a dead silent audience.

It was also cool that in other songs when some chatter would arise (Memories, the beginning of Dondante) some people would try to shush the audience.

I feel so fortunate to have been able to take this one in, and I hope that the band will consider making the recording of this one available as part of the live downloads series.  This one really needs that treatment.
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

Considering the band's history in Amsterdam, it's cool and appropriate that they played a lot of old songs.  And it's cool that they busted out such an insane show there..... I trust Mr. Whippy, and he knows his stuff..... it must have been a really special one.

I feel soooo lucky to have attended the show!
As said earlier, first MMJ live experience for me, and hopefully not the last!

I've loved every minute of it. I got there early because I wanted to be right in front of the stage, and it was well worth it. The venue was incredible, and the audience was awesome from start to finish too. I came from Italy, and in my country people usually get into moshing a lot during rock concerts, which is something I definitely did not miss at Paradiso: it was the first time I saw a crowd both pumped and entertained while ordinate and respectful.

I should add that the Dawes gave a solid performance too: I basically didn't know them at all,  they put a solid performance on! I'll definitely explore their discography soon.

MMJ's first run of seven songs in particular was special to me, up until the first acoustic "break" of Get the Point. I especially loved the rendition of They Ran and Spring. Then another streak of brilliant songs, from Dondante to Way he sings, Phone, Memories, and a surprise Nothing to it. My personal favorite has to be Lowdown.

Lots of love to and from the crowd, and overall the guys seemed to really have fun on stage. You could see both Tom and Jim smiling a lot to people waving at them and trying to catch their attention. Some people even raised a cardboard sign with the text "Kentucky Proud" which really made Jim cheer.

At the end of the concert, I also was so fortunate to get one of Jim's guitar pick, which is custom designed with a doodle on one side and his signature on the other.
I also snagged one of Carl's guitar picks too, but surprisingly it was a standard yellow Dunlop pick.

I'll be framing both picks anyways, together with my ticket stub and the beautiful silk screened poster, because the memories of that night will remain forever!

I have a potential favor to ask of anyone on this forum living in Amsterdam who might read this, and am hoping someone can help me out.

We had an early flight home the morning after the Paradiso show, and I accidentally left my poster tube with four of the MMJ Europe posters in it (one for us and three that I got for friends in the US who wanted one) in the hotel room.  I've been in contact with the hotel and they have the poster tube and say they will ship it to me, but it's been hard so far to actually make that happen.

The hotel we stayed in is very close to the Paradiso.  I'm wondering if there is anyone who lives close by that might be willing to pick up the poster tube from the hotel and ship it to me themselves.  I'll pay for the shipping costs, obviously, but am also happy to pay some extra to compensate for the time someone would spend to pick up the poster tube and send it to me.

If anyone is willing and able to help out, please send me a private message and we can go from there.

Thanks!
