Rewiring the brain for post-OBH shows

I was fortunate enough to catch one of the two preview shows at Headliners in Louisville, as well as both OBHs, and I now I have to admit that, as amazing as the setlists and shows in Chicago were, I am finding it hard to rock out in seats surrounded by chatty muggles.  I am loving the new songs in the mix, as well as the opportunity to hear that MMJ sound reverberate off of the six sides of whichever cube we've gathered in, but I do miss the purity of the attention being paid and the joy being experienced and the faces being melted in Mexico.  I'll get there - just a roundabout way of saying I miss y'alls.

That said.. bring on the next ones!

Isn't that the truth!!  No OBH in 2016 is a bit of a letdown, but it's understandable.  At least they are touring so we still get to see them play, but the perfection of playing right on the water, with food and drinks flowing, in the warm Caribbean nights, it's just not going to be the same.

But for me, at least it will be my first Red Rocks experience in a couple months!
Cuz it's been so long since someone shattered me.

I have been thinking about this as well, but i'm on the opposite side of the fence.  I don't want to take away from what you guys are saying but i do want to explain myself a little.

OBH was very cool, no doubt about it.  If i had unlimited funds i would go every time without hesitation.  But to me, my ideal jacket experience is 99% based on:  A. the setlist, B. the sound quality, and C. how well the band is performing.  For logical reasons, they seem to be taking these shows way more seriously than they did the OBH2 run and in my opinion I think they are performing at an all time high level in terms of musicianship.  Every venue i've been to so far has had great sound and the setlists... i mean they are doing spontaneous curation again during a tour for an album that I absolutely love.  To me, it really doesn't get any better than this and for about the same price of OBH2, perhaps even less, i'm getting to see 10 different sets in 7 different cities.  Yes, the crowd in Chicago left a little to be desired but Athens and Knoxville were great audiences.  Especially Athens, which felt like an extension of OBH almost since pretty much everyone in the place seemed to know all the words and all of the little subtleties.

You know, they should really think about doing more Roll Call only one-offs kind of like the headliners shows but bigger venues.  It would be one way to weed out the BS without having to spend a fortune and go to another country.  They could really get away with a lot, musically, doing stuff like that since they know we'll all be happy as hell with whatever they do.

As someone who will never be able to afford to go to OBH, I'd be more than okay with this.
