Do posters sell out? How quickly?

So I've only been to 3 MMJ shows, and believe it or not, 2 of them were the first 2 OBHs. So I have no idea how the merch table works. Do individual show posters sell out quickly? What time can I reasonably go in and be able to get a poster?

Always depends on the show (how big it is) and who the artist is. Also, obviously, however many they are printing. I believe MMJ are the type of band that has a solid enough following of folks who collect posters so I always try to go right to the merch stand and get one if I can. Usually isn't an issue but I remember the Port Chester 3-night run being a tough item to grab. One night I got one of the last ones but this was a really hot poster because it was 3 different ones that were connected so lots of people wanted it.

I would go right to the merch stand when you can get in. Early as you can. But that's just me and I always kick myself if I wait too long and miss out.

At Red Rocks in 2012, they sold WAYYYY LESSSS posters for the second night, than they did for the first night (if anyone has one that they are willing to depart with, send me a PM). Due to this, the poster for the second night goes for around $200.

Definitely also depends on the artist. From my experience, the Burwell prints typically sell out the quickest. If you catch wind that he will be designing the poster for that night, I would highly suggest getting one upon entry.

To that note, how is the after market? I'm at the point in my life where I would rather scalp a poster for a show, rather than wait in line or miss out pre-gaming with my non-poster friends.

If you don't get one at the show, always check out the artist's website to see if there will be an online sale. Most artists hold some back to sell directly online.

Yea, this has saved me a pretty penny on a good amount of posters that I originally missed out on. Either the artists have an online sale (Status is great about getting the notice out about his) and sometimes it can't hurt to reach out to the artist with an email or tweet to see if they have any extra. I was able to score a Rob Jones poster from a Jack White show I missed out on by emailing him directly. Didn't want to spend $150+ from ebay.

How does one go about finding out who is making the poster before hand?
