Really wanted to avoid a festival show, but looks like Boston Calling will be all I can do. I assume that prevented them from doing any other shows in New England.

The 3 night Chicago run is going to be insane.

I'm in the same boat- really wish there was a New England headlining show... (just googled the Artpark in NY having no idea where that was - 7 hours 4 mins lol).   Will have to be content with Boston Calling and Newport (assuming that happens)

mahgh33ta and pjfan04101 i will see you guys there!

MAN picking shows on this leg is gonna be an art form. Definitely hitting up Toronto and the Detroit Double Whammy, but contemplating whether to hit up another stop or wait it out for the inevitable holiday run -- lookin' at you, Port Chester.

Man I hope you're right on Capitol Theatre for new years. I know NYC area gets a lot of love usually, but I've been waiting 2 years for this tour and my only options are festivals. Need to find a way to be at that 3 night Chicago run

So what do you think is going on with that two and a half week gap in early july?  Seems awful strange.

Gotta think they are working on finalizing NYC dates in that gap. I can see them adding more dates in general. Doesn't seem like the extensive tour they normally do. They are doing the whole festival thing, and also have another crazy tour schedule next year, with another new album to tour behind, but I can def see them adding a few more dates.
As mentioned in another post, there are no west coast dates either after Red Rocks, so I can definitely see those getting added as well.
We will see... But I sure as hell hope so... If not, it seems like a few roads trips this tour

The only other thing i thought of is that the gap comes right before Forecastle and their voyage home (for some of them at least).  So they could have something very special planned for forecastle that requires extra rehearsal, or they could simply be planning a little break for themselves, or both.

subinai

i was thinking no NYC date announced yet because of the festival clause w/ gov ball

They will definitely do something for the Forecastle show.  I wouldn't miss it.  There are so many Kentucky based bands at Forecastle this year, so at the very least, there will be some cool collaborations.
I wonder why we listen to poets when nobody gives a fuck

so i know the tour schedule is gonna be much lighter next year, anyone heard of any rumors of them playing at a fest or 2? maybe at least forecastle?

I think if they play any shows at all, they will have at least one date in Louisville- they don't usually play the same fest in consecutive years though (or at least they haven't in a while).
That being said, I think if they are going to play any festivals, Bonnaroo and Forecastle would be good bets with this being Roo's 15th year celebration and MMJ being nearly synonymous with Forecastle.
Can't wait to hear what they have planned!
I'm in love with this soul; it's a meaning that I understand

I would think perhaps 2016 is the year they play the festival named after one of their song lyrics ... Shaky Knees in ATL. Organizer is a huge MMJ fan and I know he's been trying to get them for some time (Jim appeared in the inaugural festival solo).

I would bet money that MMJ headlines Shaky Knees this year. I know the guy that created the festival was at the last One Big Holiday. I've gone to all 3 years so far and it's a GREAT festival, although the venue is moving again for the 4th time in 4 years.  The lineups have been stellar every year and you'll end having to make some tough choices because there are so many awesome bands. VIP is well worth the money as it includes your beer and Fox Bros BBQ!

jcc0065

well thatd be fucking awesome, as i live in birmingham.

never been, sounds like a fest i should check out regardless! a fest i really wish theyd play is Wanee down in Florida

I met the Fox Bro's bros at OBH2, of course I moved from Atl 4 yrs ago after all the Southern fests got going. Would love for MMJ to play Shaky Knees!
