Wondering if anyone else was lucky enough to witness the GENIUS that is/was the 4 nights of the "Dr Dog Pop Detachment & the Pig Iron Psychedelic Signals Auxiliary" 9/9 - 9/12/15, at the Union Transfer in Philly? Followed by a full Dr.Dog set each night. I'm literally still in awe of what I saw and heard. I'm dumbstruck that Dr.Dog and Scott McMicken don't fully realize their, well, GENIUS is what describes it best. Harmonies like the Beach Boys, hooks like the Beatles, lyrics like Dylan & The Band(but unmistakably their own), the underrated musical qualities of the Kinks, the sometimes dark brooding intelligence of Tom Waits, and a soulful backbone that harkens to the magic of classic Stax recordings. The music alone would be enough to peek anyone's interest, but the realization, of what I've heard is something they've been working on for years. The"Psychedelic Swamp" with the lauded Pig Iron Theater co. went beyond a musical/theater experience into magic territory. While I cannot expound the virtues of Dr.Dog the band enough, what they did with Pig Iron Theater in Philly on those 4 incredible nights was like nothing I've EVER witnessed. Hopefully "The Psychedelic Swamp" will be released in some or multiple formats soon. For now check out some YouTube videos to get a taste of what was literally the four best nights of my life.

And to answer Murph's question. I saw on YouTube last night someone has the whole "Swamp" portion of one of the shows posted.

I still don't get it!  Haha, is this an album of all new stuff or what??

Come Closer

From what I gather, only one song is completely new. The rest are reworked from the original album I believe. I think this is the new one.

IMeMine

Hey,

Anyone interested in two tickets to see Dr Dog on Feb 17th in Flagstaff at this tiny theatre:

http://www.orpheumflagstaff.com/venue-info/

This is a second home coming of sorts for the band and I think it's gonna be amazing.   I/we were planning on flying down for the show and I'm so bummed I can't make it.  There are still tickets on sale, however, I don't want my tickets to go to waste.

Mine are on sale for your best offer.  Hard tickets in Phoenix, easy pick up.

Even if you don't buy my tickets, go see Dr. Dog on tour...
