So as you may know Bob Weir is playing around the corner at the Barceló the week before OBH, and you may have enjoyed his playing with Jim, Carl and the other boys at OBH1 or the Americana tour. Remember Dear Prudence?  Knocking on Heaven's Door? I can remember the big grin on Patrick's face after charging thru I Know You Rider.  What outstanding memories those are.  I thought I would have seen some forum traffic urging a repeat performance.  Wouldn't that be great? Maybe we could get some collective good thoughts to encourage that to occur.  Let's hope.

AMEN to this!!  hoping Bobby sticks around too - seemed like he had a good time with the boys and went snorkeling with Jim in 2014 (some of my best friends are phish - foreshadowing of Fare thee Well????)

What's in here won't disappear

I hope this happens. My head melted when he came on at OBH1 even though there were rumors prior to that. I remember seeing him the next day zoom away in a golf cart and I stopped and gave an ovation, and I got a wave back.

I always welcome Bob Weir, but I also felt that the cover selection at OBH2 showed more variety and was more interesting to me. And I think that at least part of that was because Weir's presence led to them playing a lot of the same covers they had played with him at Americanarama. If Weir sits in with them, I hope that they play some other songs.

Im a HUGE Weir fan and am predicting he once again sits in for a few songs probably 1st night. As for song selection, I think they will do just fine, the combined catalogs and possibilities are off the charts.

I somehow scored backstage family and friends passes for Chicago when MMJ were last there and got to sit and listen to Carl talk about Bob, it was obvious he has a ton of respect for the guy and was laughing his ass off at how baked Bobby was at the rehearsal.

Nice story about Carl and Bobby there.  Bobby and the MMJ boys together sure make something extra special.  Bobby had some great things to say about MMJ in Rolling Stone some time back, especially calling out Carl's pedal steel playing--which I always wish that he would do more because it is so great and adds something unique to the whole MMJ experience on top of that unique keyboard thing that Bo brings.  And in addition to Patrick's carrying the show on drums for Rider, Tom's bass lines on Prudence deserve calling out--not to mention how great it is to have Jim providing the vocal and emotional deliveries those Dead lyrics (covers and originals) deserve and almost never get.  Here's more hoping and wishing.
